Budget Truck Rental

DO NOT RENT FROM BUDGET

I rented from the Budget Rental location at 1490 Bergen Boulevard, Fort Lee, NJ on 02/15.

I was supposed to be charged for approx. 15 miles and estimate. at $110 for the one day rental. I dropped the keys n the overnight box assuming I would get my charge at the approx. amount of $110. However, it has been about 2 - 3 weeks and I was charged $270+. It took me this time to connect with budget which has recorded my mileage at about 100+ miles resulting in the cost difference.

Now, Budget's policy is to have the burden of proof with the customer. There is no formal complaint department except through customer support who says that without proof, the location is entitled to profit by lying and stealing from customers unless the customer keeps meticulous records.

So much for customer service.

BTW - the person who completed the contract for rental was assigned for the day from the paramus office so they are apparently linked. I went there earlier today during their posted office along with other day/times and the location was closed. I met another guy there this morning who actually had an appointment for pickup and the door was closed. Obviously, we both called but no answer.

I just read the other review for these guys and they it is the same location(s) and issue (lie and cheating).

DON'T RENT FROM THE FORT LEE OR PARAMUS BUDGET LOCATIONS, IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF LIKE ME.

I normally don't post online reviews but these guys are real crooks and need to be exposed for the liars and cheats they are.

Don't think that customer support can help because they cannot and will not. Keep meticulous records AND DON'T TRUST THIS COMPANY AND LEAVE THE KEYS IN THE OVERNIGHT SLOT. Make sure you return to a person and get the final receipt with correct charges. OTHERWISE, THEY WILL LIE AND OVERCHARGE YOU.

03 10 2014 UPDATE
It look a few days coordinating with the Paramus office because the Fort Lee office was not open during their advertised times Sat and Sun. After multiple calls through the Paramus office because Jose was initial not picking up my calls, it started picking up my calls.

However, he agreed to call or text me when he was in the office today to discuss my transaction. He never called. When I called him, his excuse is that he forgot his phone. I will try again this week or weekend depending on work schedules because he have not yet provided details of the transaction for which they are charging.

03 16 2014 UPDATE
Its been another week but I connected this morning. Although the Paramus office gave me this person's information as the manager, he says that he is simply an employee. He cannot show me the current mileage of the truck as physical evidence that there was not a typo in the odometer readings without me wanting to rent the truck. After I asked, show me the truck to consider it, he then says it is not on the premises.

Interesting that another man just showed up at the same time and just happened to stand around as if he was the manager or owner. He started to interject himself into the my conversation trying like a manager. When I asked if he was the manager or owner, he said he was not but just kept at it.

These guys definitely have a SCAM going on. I asked for evidence of direct rental, it turns out that there was a day between my truck return and the next truck rental to which they claim no use of the truck. Funny because the guy who rented it to me clearly said I needed to return on time or face penalty because there was a rental the day of my return. THESE GUYS ARE LIARS. DON'T TRUST AND SAVE YOURSELF MY GRIEF AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
