Primary Care
Dr. Petti, who is specifically trained to supervise and interpret digital mammograms and ultrasounds, will analyze the images and send a signed report to your primary care or referring physician, who will then discuss the results with you.
Immunizations
These guidelines are only for women with no unusual breast symptoms. If you are experiencing breast or underarm pain, or notice a lump, discharge, or any other unusual symptoms – please schedule a mammogram, regardless of when you received your vaccination.

Anxiety

Ultrasound
During an ultrasound, also referred to as a sonogram, one of our technologists applies ultrasound gel to the area(s) being studied. Then she gently slides a transducer over the area(s). The ultrasound transducer generates high-frequency sound waves to produce digital images of the area(s) being studied.
MRI
In light of the new guidelines, high-risk patients are advised to undergo earlier and more comprehensive screenings. Those with genetic risk factors, such as BRCA1 carriers, a calculated lifetime risk of 20% or more, or exposure to chest radiation during youth, should commence MRI surveillance between the ages of 25 and 30. Depending on their risk profiles, these individuals are also recommended to start annual mammography screenings between ages 25 and 40.

On January 16, 2018, the state of New Jersey enacted a new mandate that requires health insurance coverage without cost sharing for digital tomosynthesis ( 3D mammography) to detect or screen for breast cancer in women of age 40 years and older. This mandate is effective for fully insured health plans and the State Health Benefits Program issued or renewed on or after August 1, 2018. Self-funded health plans have the option to provide this benefit.

And you don’t have to give money! There are so many ways you can help out and take meaningful action during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, including volunteering and donating lightly used items.
