Custom Muffler & Brake

I am extremely disappointed and angry that this shop lived up to the reputation of "swindling mechanic." My elderly mother brought her old van in for a water pump replacement- she bought the pump herself because it was considerably cheaper than what the shop was going to charge- and they told her it would be $210 for labor. Three days later, she was finally informed that the van was ready for pick up. They refused to tell her what the total was until she got there, then they showed her a bill for $698!!!!! In those three days, they told her the water hoses were rusted and broke during the repairs and would need replaced. They gave her the price of the parts (which was overinflated from what she would have paid herself,) but wouldn't tell her how much it would be total, even though she asked what the cost would be several times. She was told it would be 3 hours of labor, but at the time of pick-up, they said it was 10 hours of labor, but the owner gave her a "discount" and only charged for 8 hours labor, and didn't charge her for "the rust."

My mother lives on a VERY limited disability income, and can barely afford her monthly bills. To be taken advantage like this is reprehensible. She left the shop that day, and called me in tears because she didn't have the money. The family had to gather money to help her pay for this outrageous bill. Oh, did I mention, this was 2 days before Christmas???!!

Just because you can cover something up with billable hours, doesn't mean you aren't a thief. And taking advantage of someone in a vulnerable position shows poor character. You kept an elderly woman's vehicle for three days in the winter, used over a half a tank of gas- which she has to ration out- then charged almost $500 more than the quoted price. You should be ashamed for this blatant breach of trust.

The owner and mechanic Steve is willing to take the time to show and explain the repair needed and is a honest and trustworthy business man, I will definitely continue to take our cars there, recommend this place for all your car repairs.

I just had to write a review about this place because they did wonderful work on my eclipse. They are very fair priced,quick,and fix your vehicle correctly the first time..and dont charge you an arm and a leg like all the other auto mechanic shops did in Johnson City, and as an added bonus they are extremely courteous family oriented just incredible people.Really take your car there to get it fixed to save you time and money and you will be so pleased with how well of a job that he does!
