Pregnancy

Ultrasound
There are several different methods surgeons use when performing liposuction, including tumescent liposuction, the super-wet technique, and ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL). In all types a tiny incision is made in as inconspicuous a place as possible. A cannula (small tube) is inserted and moved back-and-forth beneath the skin, breaking up the fat layer and suctioning it out. Tumescent liposuction and super-wet liposuction use fluid injection, which facilitates fat removal, reduces blood loss, provides anesthesia during and after surgery, and helps to reduce the amount of bruising after surgery. UAL liquefies fat with ultrasonic energy and is highly precise.

I graduated from St. Clement's School and Coronado High School in El Paso, TX.I did my undergraduate at Trinity University in San Antonio and my medical school at the University of Texas in San Antonio.My general surgery training was at Mercer University in Georgia. I finished two years of Plastic Surgery training at Temple University in Philadelphia and afterwards a fellowship at Miami University in Florida (front runner in cosmetic surgery).I am the only female, in El Paso, TX, with a background in general surgery and training as a cosmetic surgeon.I am certain, as a female trained professional, that communication between me and my female patients will be easy, and that will allow me to understand their cosmetic needs and expectations.I'll do my best to understand and discuss all your pre and post-op questions.
Ear Surgery
Ear surgery typically serves two functions: setting prominent ears back closer to the head, and reducing the size of large ears. Surgery may also be helpful for "lop ear," "cupped ear" and "shell ear," large or stretched earlobes, and lobes with large creases and wrinkles. Surgeons are also able to construct new ears for patients who are missing them from injury or other causes.

After having completed my general surgery and then my plastic surgery residency in 1977, I began my private practice in El Paso, TX. Botox
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a highly purified protein injected into the skin to relax the muscles that cause some kinds of wrinkles. While BOTOX® can treat certain medical conditions, such as excessive sweating, it is most commonly used for cosmetic purposes, primarily to reduce wrinkles on the face and neck. BOTOX® injections are relatively painless, as the needle used is significantly smaller than those used for other injectable fillers.
Eyelid Surgery
A facelift can be combined with a browlift, eyelid surgery or nose reshaping for more dramatic results, or it can be restricted to the neck (necklift) if the patient's problems center there. Incisions are made in inconspicuous places such as behind the hairline and in natural folds of the face and ears, and scars fade to near invisibility in time. Results of a facelift do not last forever, but in another sense, the effects are permanent; years later, your face will continue to look better than if you had never had the procedure.
Liposuction
The most popular cosmetic surgery procedure in the U.S. today, liposuction sculpts the body by removing undesirable fat from areas of the body such as the abdomen, waist, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, chin, cheeks, neck and upper arms that have not responded to diet and exercise.Local anesthesia or general anesthesia may be used and can last anywhere from one to five hours depending on the amount of fat being removed.
Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation is the most frequently performed cosmetic surgery procedure in the U.S. It can give women with small or unevenly-sized breasts a fuller, firmer, better-proportioned look through the placement of implants in the breast. Women may elect to undergo breast augmentation for many different medical and aesthetic motivations, including balancing breast size and compensating for reduced breast mass after pregnancy or surgery. The procedure may be combined with others such as a breast lift for more satisfying results.
Breast Reduction
Large breasts can cause pain, improper posture, rashes, breathing problems, skeletal deformities, and low self-esteem. Breast reduction surgery is usually done to provide relief from these symptoms. Performed under general anesthesia, the two- to four-hour procedure removes fat and glandular tissue and tightens skin to produce smaller, lighter breasts that are in a healthier proportion to the rest of the body. Breast reduction surgery is not recommended for women who intend to breast-feed, since many of the milk ducts leading to the nipples are removed.
Breast Lift
Women planning to have children are advised to postpone surgery, since pregnancy and nursing can counteract its effects by stretching the skin. However, breast lift should not affect your ability to breast-feed.
Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is usually an outpatient procedure performed under either local or general anesthesia and lasts one to two hours unless more extensive work needs to be done.
Breast Reconstruction
Breast reconstruction restores a natural, symmetrical appearance to the bosom, maintains body proportion, allows clothes to fit better, and most important of all, boosts self-confidence for women who have lost one or both breasts to mastectomy or who lack breasts due to a congenital or developmental abnormality. Reconstructive surgeons strive to create a new breast and nipple that resemble the woman's natural breast as closely as possible in shape, size and position.

Thigh Lift
A thigh lift is performed to tighten the skin around the inner thigh to form a more aesthetically pleasing frame. The outer thigh is generally not targeted in a thigh lift as liposuction and a butt lift tend to produce better results in that area of the leg.
Face Lift
A Mini Facelift is also called a "weekend" facelift because the procedure can be done in a shorter period of time than the traditional facelift. Unlike the regular facelift that covers the entire face, a mini facelift only focuses on specific areas. The areas that are focused on are the jaw line, neck, and the folds of the nose. This particular procedure is normally catered to those in their 30s and 40s who want to remove minor sagging. Correction of facial aesthetic issues that are more than minor require the traditional facelift.
Neck Lift
Swelling and bruising may occur shortly after the procedure and last up to ten days. Most people can return to work and other regular activities within two weeks after a neck lift procedure.
Blepharoplasty
Browlifts can revitalize drooping or lined foreheads, helping you to look less angry, sad or tired. Using either traditional or minimally invasive (endoscopic) methods, the muscles above the eyes are altered to smooth lines and raise the eyebrows for a more youthful appearance. The procedure is often combined with other operations such as blepharoplasty and facelifts to improve the look of the eyes and other areas of the face.
Abdominoplasty
Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure that helps flatten and shape the abdomen and waist by removing excess fat and skin and tightening muscles.
Nose Surgery
Body Lift
Also called belt lipectomy, torsoplasty and panniculectomy, the circumferential body lift is performed to remove excess skin from the torso and upper legs.
Otoplasty
Otoplasty lasts from two to three hours and may be performed in a hospital, office-based facility or an outpatient surgery center. General anesthesia is recommended for very young patients, while local anesthesia and a sedative are used for older children and adults.
Scar Revision
Dermabrasion can be performed on targeted areas of skin or the entire face, depending on each patient's individual skin condition and goals for treatment. This procedure can also be combined with others, such as facelift, chemical peel or scar revision, for optimal results. Your doctor will determine an ideal treatment plan for you based on a thorough evaluation of your skin.

Gynecomastia is a common condition that affects nearly half of all men, resulting in localized fat and/or glandular tissue in the breasts. For most cases of gynecomastia, the cause is unknown, but this condition may be linked to certain medications or diseases. Many men are embarrassed by this condition and seek treatment to achieve a smooth, contoured chest through male breast reduction.

Dermabrasion
Dermabrasion removes a layer of surface skin to improve the appearance of facial scarring due to acne, chicken pox, injury or other causes, as well as uneven pigmentation, wrinkles, sun damage, tattoos, age spots and certain kinds of skin lesions. It can also be used to remove pre-cancerous growths.
Bariatric Surgery
Brachioplasty, commonly known as anarm lift, attempts to procure a more natural and youthful look by removing the fat and excess skin hanging down from the underarms. This is most commonly requested by aging women, but some men opt to have this procedure as well. An arm lift is often performed on post-bariatric surgery patients who have lost huge amounts of weight in a short amount of time. Lesions
It is important for patients undergoing dermabrasion to maintain realistic expectations for treatment, and understand that this procedure can effectively enhance your appearance but will not completely change the way you look or feel. Dermabrasion can be performed on patients of all ages, although it is most successful in those with lighter skin. Those with active acne should treat existing lesions before undergoing dermabrasion in order to reduce the risk of infection.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels remove damaged outer layers of skin on the face to smooth texture, reduce scarring, and remove blemishes and pre-cancerous growths to produce healthy, glowing skin. Peel formulas and strengths are tailored to each patient. Peels can be combined with other procedures such as facelifts for a younger look. They may be covered by insurance if they are performed for medical rather than cosmetic reasons.

Skin Care
Micro peels are the lightest of all chemical peels. By removing dead superficial cells you can have smoother and softer skin, a brighter complexion, and reduction in pore size and discoloration. The procedure takes about 30 minutes. Afterwards you can go back to doing your usual activities. Recovery is immediate. Micro peels are also used with other skin care procedures for better results.
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion improves mild to moderate sun damage, scarring, wrinkles and other superficial skin problems. A gentle stream of tiny particles exfoliates the outer layer of skin and provides a fresh, glowing, younger appearance. Only a small amount of skin is removed, so sensitive areas such as the face, chest, neck, arms and hands can be treated. Results are comparable to a light chemical peel and should be immediately visible. Microdermabrasion is often performed in conjunction with other skin renewal procedures, such as laser treatment and chemical peels. Multiple treatments are recommended for full effect.

Radiesse® is composed of microspheres in a water-based gel. The microspheres - made of a substance called calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) - stimulate the production of collagen to smooth lines and wrinkles as well as add younger-looking suppleness to the face. Radiesse® is made from minerals similar to what makes up our bones. There is no need for pre-treatment allergy testing, and it is absorbed naturally by the body over time.
