There is a specific kind of Arthritis that does progress over time with age but that is specific to Osteoarthritis and there are many different types of Arthritis that are not associated with older age. One of the most common types of Arthritis is Rheumatoid Arthritis, it is more systemic and a little bit more severe but it is not one that automatically comes with old age.

" Unbeknownst to me, my journey to become a physical therapist began in my youth. Being a part of an athletic family, I have witnessed my siblings attend treatment sessions and have received treatment from physios and chiros myself with my many injuries as a soccer player both as a child and collegiately. I was truly mesmerized by the ability of these professionals to not just heal people through movement, clinical insight and manual treatment, but also mentally and emotionally through the development of meaningful therapeutic relationships. It was only until after obtaining my bachelor's degree in Biology from Adelphi University, with the goal of going to dental school, that I realized that being a physical therapist is how I truly wanted to affect the world. This brought me from my home, Toronto, Canada, to Buffalo, NY where I obtained my doctorate in physical therapy degree from Daemen University. My ultimate goal as a physical therapist is to provide people with the positive experiences that I have been so lucky to receive throughout my life both physically and holistically by facilitating self-efficacy in members of the community to be active participants in achieving their own health-related goals through education, compassion and empowerment. I have strong interests in anatomy & physiology, orthopedics, neurology, and pain sciences that will enable me to treat a wide variety of conditions. It is my hope to continue to grow both professionally and personally as a physical therapist in order to be a catalyst towards peoples' rehabilitative success!"

After completing my bachelor’s in physical therapy in India, I realized that I craved to continue my education to achieve more expertise and advanced skills in my field to assist my patients in achieving their goals faster. To pursue my master’s, I moved to the US, and along with my master’s, I also obtained rare board certifications by specializing in clinical electrophysiology and musculoskeletal ultrasound. By achieving these advanced skills, I efficiently pinpointed the root cause of patients’ problems and formulated treatment plans to improve their quality of life. MSK US can be used with ANY patient, even patients with surgical hardware, pace makers, kidney problems, significant co-morbidities, patients who are pregnant, or patients with any other restrictions that don't allow for an MRI. There is no transfer of radiation or creation of electrical fields.

Concussions, a good majority of the times, are unavoidable. Just because they are unavoidable sometimes doesn’t mean we should be left vulnerable. There are different steps we can take to avoid and help recover from a concussion better. In sports make sure you have properly fitted gear, practice appropriate rules of engagement (meaning you are hitting correctly and abiding by the rules), and make sure you have completed a Pre-Season Baseline Screening. The Pre-Season Baseline Screening is a test, not only for athletes, but it is also a screen that should be completed by youth into adulthood as a part of your yearly physical. There is no one diagnostic exam that confirms that a person has a concussion. An MRI/CT SCAN will only rule out any internal damage or bleeding; you can have a normal MRI and still have suffered a concussion.

My physical abilities have greatly improved from my previous conditions. Due to appropriate and professional therapy, I am now able to continue to develop a full range of mobility. I have always considered myself to be actively above -average. Many years remained uneventful in regard to illness and injury. However, up until a few years ago, my body underwent changes. This transition was more than just something that comes with aging. These afflictions include: brain stroke, peripheral nerve damage, hiatal hernia, hypertension, collapse arch, worn-out left hip, right hip replacement, arthritis of the spine, and other spinal problem. I was also hospitalized shortly before my therapy session. I was tested for another brain stroke. The neurologist congratulated me because it was merely a seizure.
