I was a patient there and I was walking with my walker because I have MS and when I was discharge in 2009, I was bedridden and I am still now bedridden. They over work me.

I'm surprised to read others' negative reviews. My family's experience at Highlands Regional Rehabilitation Hospital couldn't have been much more positive. My father entered Highlands requiring medical services other rehab facilities in the area aren't able to provide. The facilities were well-kept, the administration was well-organized, the staff was efficient and courteous. Highlands far exceeded our experiences with other rehab centers in the area, and I would recommend it highly to friends and family.

Worst place ever! Looking ro move to ddifferent facility 31 patients to 2 CNA's and the nurses refuse to help. They get bathed every 2 days if to yell and scream or they won't bathe them. They don't clean the patients bottoms correctly resulting in the patients sitting on soiled chucks all day unless you yell and scream for them to change them. I consistently helped them move and turn him and put him on the bed pan and when I clean him no soiled bed. Don't waste your time talking to the Nursing supervisor... nothing happens they nid and have am excuse ... we are short. They offered a bariatric patient Coke really what qualified medical personnel doesn't know bariatric patients shouldn't have carbonated drinks or bread they brought daily..... Hell place!!!! If you want what's best for your loved ones, believe me that isn't it!

Good rehab should be one staff to one patient. I saw three staff members standing and chatting with each other while their elderly patients were several yards away, trying to rehab themselves. One patient in a wheelchair did have her therapist with her.

Next, patients were all in bed - who were not in the gym being ignored by their chatty therapists - at 12:25 pm. I asked the RN why this is and he claimed that every patient wants to be in bed "and we can't force them." I suggested that it is staff convenience that they put them back in bed, instead of in their chairs.

They do not take them to a dining room but bring food into their rooms. Proper rehab should be to encourage independance, and unless one gets breakfast, lunch and dinner in bed at home, one should not get it at rehab. Being in bed so much will also encourage bed sores.

Security - I walked right in there and went to the gym on my own without anyone stopping me. I walked down one hall way too. Only until I presented myself to the nurses station and stood there awhile did anyone ask me a thing.

I decided to not send my loved one there for rehab after hospitalization.

DO NOT SEND YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS HERE!!!!!! The nurses verbally abuse their patients, if the patient wants to shower everyday they yell at them not to. They leave patients sitting in wheelchair for 10 hours straight unless a family member is there to be constantly calling a nurse for help. There are patients sitting in their soil for hours because they are neglected!!! It's so bad!!! I am taking my father out of here . I have reported everything I've seen and nothing is being done. Beware!!! Don't send your family here. Go somewhere else!!!
