Overall

If I could put a negative star I would. My child was recently discharged and how they call this place a hospital is beyon me. It was filthy, dirty and the staff didn'It care one bit for my child either physically or emotionally. He was admitted to hopefully get help but all they wanted to do was push drugs. There was no therapy and the doctor refused to speak with us. One nurse was caring but my child said the rest were rude and clearly were there to get a pay check. I plan on contesting the stay with my insurance company. I would not refer my dog to get help there. I hope others read this and never ever go, send a family member. No wonder that mental health is a stigma when the "specialty" hospital is a prison in fact I would guess the prison is cleaner and safer.

( the star is only there because it wont let me send my review without a star)

i admitted myself to this center. worst place i have ever been. not because of my problems but because im not stupid. i was in the womens unit, and apparently it is the "best" unit. the staff is ridiculously ignorant rude and not educated. on a few occasions such as a girl fainting we called the nurses attention and her response was "whaat?" pissed off that we interrupted her. on my last day a 43 year old woman had a seizure in front of the elevators and our nurse needed help and 3 people, 3PEOPLE! did nothing. walked by with out a care in the world not even "do you need help? do you need us to call a code blue?" anything! and yet nothing. never received my phone calls. the schedule was never followed especially on the weekends. the staff did not care about us, they were just there for a pay check. for how much tricare pays the food needs to be better. activities need some work. doctors need something too. i had an allergic reaction to the first drug they put on me and she didnt believe it. she said they were bug bites! where are the bugs!? not to mention so many of the women werent being educated on what was being pushed on us. its sad thats all they cared about, was pushing these drugs on these women. all you need to say is "yes my meds are working" and they let you out in a few days. i only had an hour of visitaion and when i asked the tech that was bringing the families up to see if my husband was down stairs waiting for him. he put out his hand shusshed me and told me "ya wait". i might have been admitted but i know when someone is being rude to me and im not stupid.

never go there!!!!!

My mother was suicidal and was admitted. I don't really know what kind of treatment they are giving her but she is extremely distressed. all she does is cry and wants to leave, says they don't treat her well. I don't really know if they are treating her well, all I know is my family and I were not treated well.

I went to ask for information in person and all I was told by the lady at the reception area was that she was going to call a supervisor to come speak to me. I was there for 2 hours and nobody came. and I asked her for information and she would not give me anything, just said I had to speak to the nurse supervisor because she could not give me that information.

then the next day I called to speak to the nurse in my mom's room and the lady at the reception that answered the phone was very rude, would not transfer me unless I had the unit number. i gave her the patient number and she says she cannot transfer me unless i know the unit number, that that is not the unit number. i was confused because the prior day i was told all i needed was the patient number. so i tell the lady this and she says "oh, it's because our computer system is down so I cannot look up the unit number." well, this sounds to me like a lie or she just didn't want to be helpful because she could have informed me of this from the beginning instead of just insisting that she could not transfer me for the sole reason of their computer system being down.

let's just say these staff people are not trained to care or be helpful at all. with so many people out there looking for jobs, wish they would hire some people who were better qualified to deal with patrons.

Worst Mental Health Hospital Ever!

I was admitted to this place because I was having difficulty dealing with post-partum. Unfortunately I did not have insurance in order to be put in the women's unit, so they threw me in the Psychartic unit instead. PICU, because HMR would only cover that stay for me. I thought ok, maybe I'll get some counseling to help me deal with my post-partum. WRONG. Not only did I not get any good counseling at all to deal with my post-partum depression. I was lied to constantly from day one. They said I would only be there for three days, which turned into seven. They would refuse to let me go no matter what. The Psychatric doctors only see their patients once a day only during the weekday and they don't even try to help you with anything, all they do is throw drugs at you, which don't really work. All they do is knock you out and make you sleep a lot. Then in PICU there is absolutely nothing to do. There is only one group therapy in the morning that doesn't deal with anything that you might be dealing with. One gym therapy every other day and one art therapy every other day only in the mornings. The rest of the day is boring as hell, you're just stuck watching TV. Or you can try to get something from the Techs or the nurses if they're not blowing you off and hiding in the med room that is. I was admitted in a mental health hospital before in Las Vegas, and that one was a hundred times better than this wannabe mental heatlh hospital. It's just a freaking joke. I think they try to admit as many people as they can over anything they can just to try to make more money and have students learn there especially since it's right next to UTEP.
