PATIENT BEWARE!

This dentist ruined my smile. Here's how...

I went in to have a cavity in the back of my mouth filled. While I was getting this cavity filled, Dr. Mcginnis suggested that I get the filling on my front left tooth replaced with an updated filling. This was purely for cosmetic reasons. Nothing was wrong with the front tooth filling.

When I was younger, I chipped my front tooth. I had a filling that was about 10 years old. It was a little yellow but not noticeable unless pointed out. I told her that I would think about it.

After I left her office, my filling in the back continued to hurt when I bit down. After about 2-3 weeks I called and they explained that the filling wasn't properly adjusted and I needed to come in and have it adjusted correctly. While I was getting the first filling fixed, I decided to have her replace the front tooth filling.

She started working on my front tooth. When she finished, she admitted that the fillling wasn't her best work. She handed me the mirror and the filling looked worse than before! It is now very obvious. She agreed that it didn't look the best and suggested that she put a veneer on the front tooth. I, of course, would have to pay for this veneer. Although, she said she would put the amount it cost to replace the filling towards the veneer (A whopping thirty dollars).

I went home and the more I looked at my tooth my more I hated it. On top of the color being off, it was not sanded down correctly and was catching on my lip and cutting it. I couldn't even close my mouth without the jagged line catching on my lip. I then had to go back in and get this filling properly sanded down. This is now the second time she had to fix her work on two separate fillings. During this visit, she admitted that she thought the filling needed to be fixed.

At this point I decided to get a second opinion. The other dentist disagreed about a veneer being the solution. He explained that it was very hard to match one veneer to the rest of the natural teeth. He said in most cases veneers would be put on both of the front teeth, not just one.

The second dentist and I came up with a plan to fix her mistake. Unfortunately, my insurance will only cover fillings on the same tooth every two years. This means I have to pay out of pocket due to the fact that Mcginnis already submitted a claim to my insurance for the filling for my front tooth.

I called Dr, McGinnis' office and asked if we could come to an agreement on compensation for her mistake on my front tooth. They told me they would not refund my money. The only suggestion the had was that I come back in and they can "try" to color match it. I explained that I didn't want her to work on my teeth again due to the fact that everything I've had done there had to be fixed or "adjusted",

Now I am paying hundreds of dollars to fix her mistake. I have never had such a problem with a dentist. I trusted her with my teeth and now I am scrambling around to get this problem fixed before my wedding. All I wanted was to have a perfect smile for my wedding day. Is that too much for a bride to ask?

It is clear that I won't be getting a refund, but I wanted to make my story public so no one else would have to go through what I've been through at her office. I hope that my story helps shed light on how her office works.

For all of you out there looking for a great dentist, don't waste your time or money at this office.
