I am writing because I have called and written the hospital and the billing company of the hospital (South Texas Health System) nearly 30 times to no satisfaction. For example, my insurance will pay for vaccines at 100%. Because the hospital (Edinburg Regional Hospital in Edinburg, TX) refused and continues to refuse to code the vaccinations as such but rather includes it in new born costs, I have to pay for it rather than the insurance--a benefit that I am supposed to receive.



Consider a second example where the hospital charged the newborn for a room. This expense seems absolutely ridiculous since the baby stayed ONLY in my room (the room of my wife Sheila), for which I was billed separately. I do not mind paying for one, but I find the charge excessive for two since I did not receive two rooms.



Lastly, the hospital charged me for four glucose exams even though my baby did not meet any of the criteria for being at risk. My baby was not over 9 lbs, my wife had no history of gestational diabetes (for our previous nine children), and our baby was not abnormally large for her gestational age. Again, I do not mind paying for a test, but I see no justification for four tests when each is normal.



When I call to complain, the billing office says the doctor ordered or coded it. When I call the doctor, the doctor office says that it was the hospital. No one takes responsibility, passing it off to the other, and I am left with a bill that does not seem fair.

My daughter was very sick so I bring her here around 4:00am. The place is trash! Literally. Napkins with blood on it on the floor, vomit on the floor. It we taken to a room very fast which was great. Only to wait until day crew came in at 7:00am for them to actually do anything which by then it seemed that my daughter got well on her own. Then I was told to wait for the doctor which I am still waiting till this day. Coming here was the biggest mistake of not only mine but my daughter's young life as well.

The drs are great but the cleanliness of the rooms are terrible. The cleaning staff hardly comes and when you call them they took for ever. Never took the dirty sheets had to bring my own cleaning stuff and Lysol spray.

TOOK MY CHILD TO THE ER HERE IN ERMC AND THEY TREATED HIM WELL AND WAS RELEASED WITH MEDICATION TO TAKE ..HE IS BETTER AND IS BACK IN SCHOOL..
