City of Durham Parks and Recreation Department operates parks, community centers, sports complexes and outdoor venues and offers a variety of recreational and cultural activities. The department organizes athletic leagues and offers a variety of sports activities to visitors, such as basketball, flag football, volleyball, softball, soccer, tennis, baseball and dodge ball. Its aquatic division operates swimming pools and offers a variety of programs, including exercise and fitness sessions, rehabilitation therapy, swim lessons and championships. It also has boating and fishing facilities that offer bank fishing activities and electric motor and rowboat rental services. The various recreational activities offered by the department include summer camps, dance lessons, arts and crafts, computer classes and it also offers environmental educational programs. The department has its administrative office located in Durham, N.C.
