Silver Lake Center

My mother was recently a patient at Silver Lake Nursing and Rehab. Now that she is home I will say that I would not send my dog there for care. The Physical Therapy department was EXCELLENT - however the rest of her care was poor. The nurses were very unresponsive - whenever she requested assistance the nurse's station would send an aid to find out what she wanted and they wouldn't assist her either. She had to request her meds and often was not even provided water when she requested it to sip throughout the day. My mother was immobile and could not retrieve those sort of things for herself. Additonally, her portable toilet would sit unemptied for hours and the food was horrible. She stayed as long as she did due to insurance restrictions and her injuries - otherwise she would not have stayed there. Also - I found the nursing staff to be unprofessional often arguing in the hallway with each other. I also found security to be an issue - anyone could walk in and out without signing in. With so many elderly patients I would think that there would be some control at the front entrance.
