Surry Inn

I was scared when I read the other reviews but I had already booked my 2 nights .Needless to say I agree that it's not updated like those larger hotels but the hospitality was wonderful the rooms were very clean and it seemed like they were genuinely concerned how their guest were. I feel its better to be treated as a person than a room number. The amenities arent all that great and the continental breakfast is no more than just a very small,I mean very small and barely there tidbit. But on the upside there is the wonderful surry Diner. Which has great food and even greater prices. With a Kangaroo gas station also close by that has just about anything.

I would not reccommend anyone to stay at this motel. To start with, the weather was terrible and the choice was minimal. For a two bed room we were charged $65.00 per room per night. We could not get the TV to work and the desk clerk had to come to our room at least with 4 times to attempt the remote to work the TV. When we finally were able to get any picture, we settled back after having food delivered to watch some entertainment on the TV. At this time a picture fell off the wall and hit me in the head. This was approximately between 8pm and 9pm. We contacted the front desk and another desk clerk or Manager as we were told, came to our room. The picture was broken and the picture hanger had fallen out of the wall. When we requested some compensation for our stay. he replied, We can move you to another room but that is all we are able to do. He said "IT WAS AN ACCIDENT" just what do you expect. I can call an emergency squad and have your head checked but that is all I will do". He dusted off the bed where dust and possibly small chips of glass had fallen on the floor which he left there on the floor and refused to provide any compensation., but that was it. He offered to refund any monies but only if we would leave the motel. Since there was an ice storm in the area we were unable to do such. After he left we noticed the bed was shaking back and forth when we sat on it and we investigated that the wooden bed frame was broke and also noticed a large amount of dust and dirt by such bed frame. The continental breakfast was a joke Bread had to be at least a week old and hard as a rock and no orange juice and the apple juice was at least a week old and very bitter. Had to make our own coffee as well. We were unable to change rooms because my disabled brother was in the room beside our room and he did not understand how to operate the phone system if we were not next door. I feel this motel was a disgrace to the hospitality business. I have been in the motel chain business for 10 years myself and would have never treated a guest in this manner and would have certainly made some compensation for the injury as well as the inconvenience of having the circumstances we experienced.
