Coventry Place

My father lived at Coventry several years and watched the facility go downhill. As of this date it is dirty and poorly maintained. Management does not give the respect to the residents that they deserve and pay for. On two separate occasions the apartment ceiling leaked water for days. I reported it and the leak continued. I moved furniture, placed plastic and buckets to catch water. At no time did management ever explain, apologize, offer to move furniture, or even clean up. The kitchen facet continually leaked ruining the cabinet underneath and creating a haven for roaches. I was told it would be repaired but the months went by without attention. For months the main dining room ceiling has been missing ceiling tiles exposing AC components above resident's heads, tables and food. Smoking is allowed in rooms on one floor, but the cigarette odor in halls, elevator and public places is strong. Smokers are allowed to smoke by exterior doorways so that everyone who enters and leaves must walk through smoke. The grounds are strewn with hundreds of cigarette butts and occasionally discarded used rubber gloves that lie by exterior doors for days. For years residents have had assigned parking places but one day management covered the designations without notice. My father's apartment was entered without notice on more than one occasion. The AC unit in his apartment was removed without notice. Tools and AC parts were left where the work was done - on an expensive oriental rug. I complained about all these things, but conditions did not improve. We have moved.

The staff is not attentive. When you first move in it will appear that they are, but after a month or two that care disappears. The marketing director lies during the tour of the facilities.



Executive director is worse than the marketing. He lies about what he is going to do. He will say "We will work at improving this" or "I will look into this" but nothing is changed/improved. Everything is always said to please the resident enough to go away quietly.



Food is abysmal. The vegetables are usually always overcooked and never seasoned. There are days they will split being picked up by a fork. Meat is rarely seasoned too. Everything is either canned or fried, and the head chef has no intention of changing it due to his denial of doing any of it. He would not eat his own food cooked at facility but says that it is good.

On this the eve of our Coventry Place Thanksgiving Dinner, I give. thanks for the happiest 5 years & 11 days I ever spent! The only time I was as happy was when I was on ship with the US Navy. I planned too write this review on my 5th Anniversary, but this is a very active Senior Community: in fact,
