What happened to this place??



I went there last night for dinner and was very disappointed. We ordered 2 combination dinners and 2 sushi deluxe dinners. The combination dinners came out . First we looked at it, we said wow, that looks great and very big portion. Upon further inspection, half of the plate was filled with "decoration" - craved fruits and vegetables... the bad part was that there were no doubt in our mind those were resused - many times. There were some black dirt on the pinkish flower thing and the dye they use leaked out to the rest of the plate, making the neighbor tampura and rice pink. The carved apple was rotting. After we picked out all these decoration, the appeared portion was down to half now. For the price they are charging, I can do better somewhere else.



I understand we are not there just for the decoration. So, let's talk about the food. The fried rice was not made properly. For it to have the right texture, you cannot take it straight from just-finished rice out of the rice cooker and make it. You need to let the surface moisture escape a bit first. Well, they missed that, making the rice very soggy. My son usually love rice, especially fried rice but after a couple of bites, he told me he has enough...



Turning to the sushi... have you ever buy the sushi tray at Costco? That is how it is like. So, if you love Costco sushi, you won't complain much, except for the amount of wasabi they put in between the piece of fish and the minature rice beneath. I was not prepared and the first piece made my eyes watered and nasal expand so much that I need a 15 seconds timeout. At first, I thought I got a lump from the soy sauce plate, but the second piece, same thing happened. So, I peel off the fish on the rest of the sushi and found an abnormal amount of wasabi in there. I ended up scraping the wasabi off each of them. I expected a lot more from a Japanese restaurant. If I wanted mediocre sushi, I could have gone to Kroger. For the price they charged for the sushi deluxe, I can do a lot better elsewhere.



I used to go there for lunch and thought it was a decent place. I have not been back there for awhile and last night was probably the last time.
