Dayton Appliance Parts

This company has terrible customer service. I purchased a gasket for my upright freezer when a small gap developed on the lower part of one side of the door. I removed the gasket myself and affixed the one I purchased then discovered this did not correct the problem. I removed the new gasket and replaced the original one. A few days later an appliance repairman from a different company was able to correct the problem with just a door adjustment. I took the gasket, which was in like-new condition with no damage or marks on it, back to Dayton Appliance parts to return it for a refund. They refused to accept it because they claimed it was "used" since I put it on the door to check if the problem was corrected. (Does trying on a shirt or pair of pants mean they are "used?") There was nothing on their posted return policy that applied to my circumstances, only their claim that it was now used and they could no longer sell it despite the condition being the same as when I bought it. Any reputable business would not have refused to give a refund on such a return. Their only concern was not having to give a refund based on their arbitrary claim.
I would certainly not recommend this business based on their lack of integrity.
