Rip Off!!!! Misleading..Extortion at its best. A simple nose infection and 15 minute visit $1431.00. I thought I was walking into an urgent care walk in facility. At possibly $200 the most. I even asked what the charge would be to the receptionist. Her reply a little vague but "depends on your insurance but you will be charged as urgent care usually around $200" never mentioned as an ER facility. Very misleading! This should not be allowed its unethical to take advantage of people in desperate situations and not explain upfront how it will be billed even if they cannot give you amount they should make consumers aware its like an ER CHARGE. i HAVE SEEN THAT THIS HAS BEEN COVERED ON SOME NEWS STATIONS. The more people that become aware the less business these places will do. Please spread the word.

place was a scam they charged me $400 to xray my wrist and another $700 for a 5 min doctor visit. I could hear them making fun of my pain in the hall that my wrist hurt. I was in sever pain for about a week so I went in. I will never go in their again

ok, my turn. Do not step foot in this place or any of the Baptist's urgent care facilities. I waited until I got my bill after reading all the reviews below. I would have checked out the facility before we went but my son had 105 fever and all I wanted to do was get his fever checked. I was charged a whopping $853.00 for a sore throat and fever. All they gave him was a Gatorade. They charge a $500.00 facility fee. Do you think they tell you this; of course not. Other urgent care places tell you their fees up front; not this place. This is why people don't pay their medical bills. it' s not the point that insurance picks up the charges; they shouldn't be charging these prices. How do they get away with this??? I contacted them and told them that I would not be returning. The facility is run by South Miami Hospital. This is not urgent care but an emergency room in disguise. Go to Urgent Care 365. I was going to go there but always wanted to try this place because they come out to the Orange Blossom Festival every year. Just wait until I see them. I have already filed a complaint with the state. People are going to be shocked once they get their bills. We must speak up against practices such as this.

Total scam! I went here one evening for pink eye. I walked in, told the Dr I have pink eye (my son had pink eye so I knew exactly what it was), he agreed and sent me home with a prescription. The whole visit took about 15 minutes with no tests and barely even an exam. Everything was fine until a month later when I got the bill for over $800 from the facility and Dr!! Apparently they bill as an ER even though they advertise as an urgent care facility. I don't even know how a real ER could charge that much pink eye. I asked repeatedly for an itemized bill and they never sent one to me. I don't know how they can claim they are an ER. Would you go to an ER with a life threatening injury or illness that is in an old strip mall between a Publix and Starbucks? Its a total scam.

I went to my local urgent care clinic in the hopes of taking care of a cat bite quickly and cheaply. Was I ever wrong. The facility is nice, but the wait was inexplicably long. I had to ask for a band-aid to stop my bleeding (Yes, I told them I was there for a bite. Sort of "duh" on that one.)

When I finally got in, the medical service was competent.

But the worst part is the billing. This rip off of a company charged me as much as if I were to have gone to an ER! There's a large sigh advertising prices, but then they bill you separately for the facility (visit), and then again for the doctors (staff) and not at all as advertised. I called and ranted at them and they told me to stuff it- those were their prices. I called my insurance and they were helpful, but unable to do anything about it.

Next time, I will drive an hour out of my way to avoid these people just to save myself from their predatory billing. AVOID THIS PLACE if you can.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS....BEWARE.....

AVOID AT ALL COSTS....BEWARE....WATCH YOUR WALLET SHRINK....

What else can i say. I brought my kid in there for something very basic over a year ago and what should have cost no more than $50-$100 ended up costing over $400. I fought them since they did not disclose all of the costs upfront like i asked. The manager of the facility came out and lowered my bill to just a little over $200...WHICH IS STILL OUTRAGEOUS!!! You are better off going to a normal local urgent care center OR EVEN THE HOSPITAL so your copay will kick in.

Stay away. Son went in for flu. Got bills from 3 different entities. Cost a few hundred dollars after insurance for what is normally a $20 co-pay when you go to your family physician. The state should investigate this. They are criminals.

Stay away. VAMPIRE of a medical center. Border line illegal practices.

Went here for flu like symptoms and was discharged without treatment other than a prescription for some cough medicine.

I had to pay 50 dollars upfront to see the doc (no big deal, fine I'll pay it).

A month later the bills start coming in. First I got one for 330 dollars which my insurance left me to pay 82 dollars. (Ok that's annoying seeing that I didn't even have a major illness).

Just today I get a bill from Miami hospital (mind you I went to the davie urgent care), for 771 dollars (???????). My insurance will pay all but 58 dollars.

So moral of the story, I came in feeling lousy and now had to pay

190 dollars out of pocket for something that I could have gotten over the counter.

Please people, save yourself a lot money and just make a doctors visit. I was foolishly tricked into thinking an urgent care would be an cheaper and easier method.

Overall
extremely misleading billing practices

Unless you have 0 deductible do not even think of going here. While it looks like an urgent care center and acts like an urgent care center it does not bill like an urgent care center... instead like an emergency room. I took my daughter here after she was bitten by a dog in the neighborhood. It was after hours and close by and I have learned the expensive and painful lesson to never go to an emergency room unless it is life threatening. I was careful to ask upon registering what the charges would be and the sweet but seemingly inexperienced registrar did not know nor did she have a list of medical fees but did say it would be billed as an urgent care visit. Not true at all. I got the statements and bills and much to my chagrin I had been billed a $275.00 "facility fee" and then separately $233.00 for the "independent provider". All this for some Neosporin and a bandaid. My insurance company paid for the providers fee but I was stuck with the facility fee since I have a high deductible. Woopdeedoo the facility fee was wittled down to 192.00 because of a negotiated contract fee between Humana Insurance and Baptist. My advice is to go to a privately owned urgent care center such as UrgentMed in Davie or Doctors 365 in Plantation. Same exact quality treatment (better actually) and less than half the cost. Absolutely love Dr. Houston at Doctors 365. He actually posts treatment fees on his website. I should have gone there to begin with but this was brand new and closer.

I have done some research on this very issue and it seems that this is a rising trend. Hospital Corporations such as Baptist opening up Urgent Care Centers far away from their core operation and using these sorts of misleading billing tactics (facility fees) in order to increase their profits. This seems to have worked for Baptist Miami which doubled its profits in Fiscal 2010. Their basic retort to my indignation is "buyer beware... now pay up" which is what I will do because it ain't worth damaging my credit.
