Villas at Monterey

The management of this apartment complex is abysmal in many sense. When they promise to repair on a specified day, there is a good chance that they will not come. The staff members are condescending; they act like the residents are idiots when there is disagreement. There was one occasion when, after I stated that I paid the rent of $1534, the manager replied "no" with a smile. I replied, what do you mean by "no"? She said, "you asked a question, I said 'no'." It was later revealed that we did indeed pay the rent. Oh by the way, they cleared the apartment while we are on the lease, and by that I mean they threw away all our stuff at least 3 days before the lease was over. Their reason? We cut off the water. We cut off the water because it was leaking, and no one is coming to repair, and we will not be living in that roach-infested dirt hole any more (we already found new place to live). So, 3 days before the lease was over, we went there to collect our stuff, only to find that they were already gone. Later, without contacting us, they sent the cleaning fee and the fictitious "rent" (since we paid it in full before we left) all the way to the collection agency----thus the reply of "no" with a smile. Oh one more thing, in the Winter of 2013, there was no heater. It was broken, and there were a couple of maintenance guys they sent to repair but none could fix it. We contacted them about the heater numerous times, and in the end it still was broken. The manager later told me that we could sue them, but she knows that we are students with busy lives, and it was months after the Winter so it is very unlikely we would do so. Please think twice before committing to live there.

I was tricked into moving here first the office manager was real friendly because i was filling her quota. Since move in I have been exposed to roach infestation,plumbing issues with brown water and price gouging with the utilities. I have asked the manager Valerie to check into all of my issues and she told me to they didn't care about my issues and I could move. My issue with this place is several tenants complaints it is so awful that tenants move in the middle of the night breaking their lease.I know the all bills included sounds great but not so when you end up paying $1300 a month for a two bedroom with no washer and dryer connections. Management is horrible and the office manager runs her office as a tyrant whose own staff quits on her due to her evil ways. Numerous tenants have complained about the utilities and she has refused to look into the problem.This place has been under several management companies and soon to fall under a another due to the high turnover with tenants.Take it from me read reviews and know that all move in specials are not worth it. Do your research and locate a property that takes pride in their tenants and actually want longevity out of your dollar not a quick quota that leaves them with whirlwind occupants. Customer service is essential when money is being exchanged and treating people with respect is not hard do not move here

A/c went out in my building and was told to leave apartment if gets too hot while they are fixing the unit. Came back and my $2,000 camera eqipment was stolen (the ONLY thing missing) and the only people in the building were maintenance and nobody else. so I went to the office & my master key was missing hmmm who could have done it' Called the corporate girl who was disrespectful in every way to me and my husband and said we were just hiding our camera! hahaha! Finally got in contact with the complex's president who at first said he wouldn't reimburse us back but after quickly realizing that we were taking him to court to reimburse us lost wages as I am a professional photographer and to reimburse us the camera and equipment, we eventually got our money back- after leaving out $75 of the check... eventually got that back after threatening to go to court.

The whole time the apartment managers said you don't have proof you can't take us to court, well guess what I had an attorny and spoke with several police officers and attornies who sided with me in saying that the apartment has to pay for it all being that the apartment made us leave since they had issues with their a/c. DO NOT LIVE HERE THE MAINTENANCE PEOPLE ARE THEIVES!!!!!!!!!!! MANAGERS WILL LAUGH IN YOUR FACE IF YOU CLAIM SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENED TO YOU! Leaving as of October! Couldn't get here any faster either!!!!



GET RENTERS INSURANCE!!!!!!! I was lucky with all the evidance I had in this case but if I had not found out the master key was missing I could have been unlucky!

basically my last bad review was about how when I first moved in we had half off first month's rent but once our bill came in we were told to pay full month's rent. ummm that wasn't the special!!! maintenance was very poor, our front door caved in when a cardboard box (empty) fell on it. it's still not replaced and the door has always been jammed. moved in to "new" carpet that had never been replaced. The shower rod is still hanging off the wall by some screws that are old and rusty and the rod isn't in correctly so our curtain isnt hanging right as well. fire ants everywhere, PUPPY SIZED ROACHES ARE EVERYWHERE, managers are rude and soooo unorganized the only thing the remember is my name. They do not keep tabs on maintenance OBVIOUSLY!
