I Love Stevens

I started Stevens three weeks ago. I really knew nothing about truck driving. But in the weeks I learned a lot. I passed my CDL written tests before I got to school. It made my schooling easier. The last Tuesday I passed my Driving test. Today I graduated to a driver trainee. I had the best trainers ever. Thanks to Mike Jim James & Steve.

The Absolute Best

I have been over the road for about 10 months. I went through a different trucking school. I have worked local even driving roll offs and have been trained in several fields. Stevens Transport has the absolute best training I have ever been the recipient of in my life. I am definitely going to retire from here. This is not business as usual this is business better than usual even at its absolute best. Dont like your career? Give Stevens Transport your beat and they will give you theirs.

Excellent

Stevens transport academy is by far the greatest experience I've ever had. The trainers are excellent and well skilled in the craft of professional truck driving. The school is dedicated to teaching safety on the road for trucks and motorist. The equipment and courses are great.

my new career

I am just finishing Orientation I with Stevens Transport. The experience has been very challenging and incredibly rewarding. I feel like I have joined a big new family and am looking forward to being matched with a trainer to learn more about the company and the industry that I now work in. So far everything has been as I was told, and the job is exactly what I expected. I am so excited to be here!

They are the best company that you would want to drive for. They put their drivers through a very educational and intense safety orientation. I always considered myself a very safe person, but it wasn't until I went through their orientation that I quickly found out that there was things I was doing that other companies allow but because Stevens cares about your safety and well-being, it is not acceptable with them. My hats off to them for that.

A Great Company to Work For

I am newly hired driver and am just starting out. They sponsored my schooling and have offered me employment and more training, to be successful in my new career. My plan is to complete one year as a company driver, and then take advantage of the Alliance leasing program through Stevens. This will let me learn to run my own business and then eventually, I plan to buy my own truck through yet another program Stevens offers, and become a contract driver. In this economy, I now have a great job in a thriving industry. Thanks, Stevens!

TRAINING!!! SUCCESS!!!

I have to tell you Stevens Transport is an amazing company! The reason: THE TRAINING!!!! Many other companies say, ?Oh 3 weeks and you will be making the big bucks?...Well I am sorry, but three weeks is not long enough for training. With Stevens, you have 5 weeks with a knowledgeable trainer who will teach you the ways of this job and the company policies. After that, you will have three weeks on a trainee trainee team. It is a great time to see what you are made of! However, there is always someone at Stevens to help you along the way! After that, you start your amazing career with Stevens Transport! I recommend this company to every driver, current, future or otherwise!

I am new to Stevens Transport ...

I am new to Stevens Transport and I have to say that I have had an amazing experience through training! I am getting ready to go through grad class now. I know I have made the right choice! Stevens is always there for me, they are always behind me every step of the way. Other companies may pay more, but the training and value of your job with Stevens is much much higher! This job is amazing. You get to see the whole country and see where so many of our food items come from. It is always a new adventure on every load!! I am so blessed and thankful for the opportunity I have to work for such a great company like Stevens Transport. I would recommend this company to any driver new, experienced or otherwise!

I chose Stevens Transport as company to be trained and employed because I believe they have the most enhanced training program to become a professional driver, or a successful owner operator. Driving for Stevens Transport would make me proud and safe knowing they are the most recognized company and the one who never had lay-offs. I met the drivers from Stevens at my Progressive School in Chicago, and they all had the best and newest trucks. One of them was a trainee who was very happy with his training. One more reason why I chose Stevens is that they are giving plenty miles to drivers and quality home time in any city in America. I would tell other truck drivers to join Stevens because they truly stand behind their offer.

Proud, and safe driver for stevens transport

ike working for Stevens Transport because I am always moving and grooving making $. My truck is only a few years old (2011 kw t660). Any maintenance issues are taken care of right away. If I need to go home for any reason, it can happen within a day or two, if not on the day that I ask to go home. Stevens Transport offers one of the very best training programs in the industry. Stevens Transport is an excellent company to drive for. On the case of the review on money being taken out of your pay check for damages to company property: the amount you are paying is comparable to a insurance deductable on you own personal car. Repairs to your truck, if your alliance, is taken out over-time to keep you earning a paycheck. Unless you wreck a truck or damage the truck extensively, the $ you pay back is a fraction of the amount you would have to pay if it wasn't covered by insurance. Damaging company property @ any other job requires you to pay back the cost just the same.

My experience with Stevens Transport

I like the fact we drive great equipment here at Stevens.

I'd tell other drivers that if your just starting out to hang in there, if your able to stay on the road for extended periods then go Alliance, put in that first year, after a year solo, start training, I have more money in the bank than I ever have in my life.

Stevens is a great opportunity to thrive in a terrible economy if you just simply do what Stevens teaches you to do.

And another thing, I love the fact that I've been all over the United States and have had the opportunity to visit family and friends throughout the United States and get paid to travel. Also that I'm not stuck in the same boring building day after day seeing the same old faces day after day, this job is a new adventure everyday, and there's no two days that are the same

My name is Steve Balch, driver code BALS (lol ;) Truck # 8238

And I'm proud to be an Alliance trainer!!!

Spectacular!

My experience at Stevens Transport has been nothing less than spectacular! Sure you may say "this guy is just writing this," but it's true! Everything has been realistically better than I could have hoped. I will explain.
I, by nature am a planner. I can't do anything without thinking it through first, I once heard, "not having a plan is a plan to fail." That has stayed with me my adult life and now knowing that you will understand why "spectacular" is my word of choice. Anyway, I initially chose Stevens Transport because of the Stevens website. At that time it had more information than any other trucking company website and I searched all I could find. There I saw the Kenworth T2000 and fell in love! Stevens has great newer equipment, something you will not find at some other trucking companies. I was also introduced to Alliance Leasing, back then I knew nothing of leasing, I called and learned first hand it is one of the best lease programs in the industry and reading about it brought excitement and a plan. I came to Stevens with a plan for success! Finish training and become an Owner/Operator and its been a dream come true! I could not have planned it better! I had my T2000 during my trainee team and grad phase, I named her Old Blue, she was the greatest truck! Today I drive Bullseye, a 2011 KW T700 again the newest and best equipment on the road, she's named after Woody's horse from the Toy Story movies.
In closing, again I could not have planned better. Yeah some days are better than others, but it's all about planning, and everything has gone smoothly. One year into my Alliance lease, I have a first year safety patch and an MPG Master's pin and a savings account with commas in the balance, something I've NEVER had before. In a word, "Spectacular!" If I can offer some advice, dream, and then make a plan and work your plan to see your dream(s) come true, it's okay to have more than one.
Why you should come to Stevens Transport? Stevens is all about success and will help you achieve it! You will find we are a family that helps, you can always get help from another driver or call the yard. My truck number is 9721. Ask me about leasing, trip planning, driving in NYC or LA, and fuel (again MPG Master!). I will share all I know.

Overall
Stevens Transport is nothing b...

Stevens Transport is nothing but bad ju-ju, all the way around. They have always had one of the worst reputations in the trucking industry, both in their service performance and as an employer. They get money from the government for hiring anything with a pulse and teaching it to drive their trucks. As the previous reviewer said, they do not pay their trainees very much, well below industry norms and standards, even after they are no longer student drivers. They get government money for hiring trainee pulses in their body and repair shops, too. When their less than qualified student drivers wreck their trucks, their student mechanics fix it for a fraction of what it would cost on the retail market. And yet they turn around and deduct the full retail value of repairs from their student drivers' paychecks. They are making money hand over fist off their students; probably making more money from employee abuse than they are hauling actual freight. And incidentally, it's illegal for an employer to deduct _anything_ from an employees paycheck other than taxes, child support, and authorized benefits deductions. What they do with deducting the costs of repairs from their equipment is illegal, and worth up to four times the amount of the deductions, plus penalties and interest.

From a business perspective, Stevens Transport is the last company I would hire to haul my freight. Their service is undependable and slow. It might get to the destination and it might not. Likely it will be damaged when it arrives because the majority of their drivers are student drivers who do not know if their trucks are loaded properly or not, and do not know how to drive so the cargo does not walk around in the trailer during transit. The few experienced drivers they have are all "driver trainers", meaning they also make their money off the student drivers, not delivering freight safely and on time.
