Dr. Potter obtained his medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, and subsequently earned his dental degree at the University of Washington School of Dentistry in Seattle. Following his formal education, Dr. Potter received advanced surgical training in general surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery and plastic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Reconstructive Surgery
If you are facing surgery to treat a cancer of the jaws, are unhappy with the shape or alignment of your jaws, or have suffered a traumatic deformity of the jaws, reconstructive surgery can possibly improve your quality of life. There are a number of advanced techniques and technologies available to Dr. Potter that will optimize your results, your comfort, and your overall experience at our Dallas office. Reconstructive surgery often involves bone grafts from the ribs, hips, legs or skull to create new structure. In other cases, it is more appropriate to reposition the jaw and hold it in place with titanium plates and wires. Distraction is another jaw reconstruction technique that involves slowly expanding the jaw until the bone grows strong enough to hold its position.

Brow Lift
Candidates for eyelid surgery should be nonsmokers in good overall health, and should not have serious eye conditions. You should also have realistic expectations about what this cosmetic surgery procedure can do for you. In other words, it is reasonable to anticipate improvement, but not perfection. As a very experienced surgeon, Dr. Potter will fully evaluate your candidacy during a consultation. For some patients, droopiness of the eyes is due to an overall lowering of the eyebrows and forehead, rather than just the eyelids alone. In this case, a facelift or brow lift might better meet your goals.
Eyelid Surgery
Dr. Potter will determine the type of anesthesia that will ensure your comfort during your surgery. The procedure begins with very small incisions that are hidden in your lash line or the crease of your eyelid. Dr. Potter can then remove or reposition fat deposits, tighten the underlying structures, and remove excess skin. After attaining the desired result, he will close the incisions. Upper and lower eyelid surgery together takes about two hours to complete. For the first week following surgery, you should plan on resting. Dr. Potter will give you clear post-operative instructions, which you should follow carefully. It is not uncommon to experience some swelling and bruising in the eye area, but these should abate within several days.

Blepharoplasty

Abdominoplasty
Depending on the patient and the individual situation, abdominoplasty may be performed as an outpatient procedure or include an overnight stay at the hospital or our medical hotel. At your first postoperative visit any drain tubes that may be present are often removed and you will be reminded of your limited activity. You should plan light activity for the first couple weeks. Gradually, light to moderate activity can be done to promote healing. After a few weeks, you will be able to return to your normal level of activity.
Nose Surgery
When rhinoplasty is performed to correct breathing problems (commonly from a deviated septum), Dr. Potter adjusts the nasal structure for improved alignment. For cosmetic nose surgery, the focus is commonly on narrowing the bridge of the nose, changing the shape of the nostrils, straightening a crooked nose, reshaping the tip, or altering the angle between the nose and the upper lip or between the nose and forehead.
