Cryotherapy
Most retinal holes or tears can be treated with laser therapy or cryotherapy to prevent their progression to a full-scale detachment. If a retinal detachment occurs, your surgeon will recommend scleral buckling, pneumatic retinopexy or vitrectomy to treat the detachment.

Ophthalmology
Dr. Leff is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of vireo- retinal and macular diseases. He has been treating patients for 30 years and joined Woolfson Eye Institute in 2012. He practices in our Atlanta, Cumming, Lawrenceville, and College Park offices. He is on staff at Northside Hospital and St. Josephs. Dr. Leff graduated with honors from the University of Western Ontario. He completed his medical internship at McGill University in Montreal Quebec, and his ophthalmology residency at the University of British Columbia. He then went on to complete specialized training in the management of vitreo-retinal disorders during a two-year fellowship at the Baylor University School of Medicine, under the tutelage of the renowned Dr. Alice MacPherson.

Eye Exam
At Woolfson Eye Institute, your surgeon will perform a comprehensive eye exam which may include gonioscopy (using a special lens to see the outflow channels), checking the intraocular pressure (tonometry), a retinal exam, slit-lamp exam, pupillary reflex response, and checking your visual acuity and visual field measurements.

Blepharoplasty
Generally, I don’t write a review unless my experience is phenomenal. Well, I had just that experience with Dr. Walrath and his staff.I had always been unhappy with the dark circles and bags underneath my eyes. I had tried many over-the-counter remedies to no avail. Then I began looking online and found out that I might benefit from a lower blasphemy procedure. During my quest, I stumbled across a lower Blepharoplasty Youtube video from the Woolfson Eye Institute featuring Dr. Walrath on the overview of the procedure. I remember watching the video and saying, “wow this doctor knows his craft”. I thought that he must be in the New York or LA area. Whenever the video was over, I found out that he was in Atlanta. I quickly made an appointment.My initial visit with Dr. Walrath was mind blowing. I found him to be informative and detailed in his approach. He explained and procedure and showed me things around my eyelids that I had no knowledge of. I really felt comfortable in having him do the procedure without a second opinion. He did mention to me the ins and outs of other techniques that other doctors might use, but based on his professional expertise, he would perform x, y, and z on me.After my consultation, I decided to do the procedure. The staff walked me through the process and what to expect after the surgery.Fast forward four weeks. I am overjoyed with the results. I now have my confidence back. Thanks to Dr. Walrath for a job well done and executed. His attention to detail and top-notch professionalism is paramount.
