Bergman Cleaners

Bergman Cleaners is located within walking distance from my house and I would love to give them my business and also be able to leave a great review. However, after three separate incidents that were unacceptable, I feel the need to leave this very negative review.

The first incident occurred when a shirt of my husband's came back with blood spots on the front. The cleaner insisted that the blood was there when it was dropped off. It was not. The second incident occurred when I noticed the sleeve of my husband's dress shirt was torn. It looked as though it had been caught on something and then ripped. The woman at the cleaner again said it was like that when it came in and it most likely happened because the fabric had worn thin. I explained to her that it was clearly not the case as worn fabric would result in an entirely different tear. (I work for a men's custom clothier which produces high end custom dress shirts). The final incident occurred this evening when I picked up my husband's brand new custom shirt and upon arriving home noticed a brown stain on the collar. My husband immediately brought it to the cleaner and asked for an explanation. The woman told him it was like that when he brought it in and she was not going to take any responsibility. My husband informed her that it was not like that since he had not worn it prior to having it cleaned. She said there was nothing they could do about it and it was not their fault.

My husband left but not before letting her know that we would not be doing business with them again since it was the third time they refused responsibility for a ruined dress shirt.

Bergman Cleaners does not appear to consider customer service high on their priority list for retaining business. At $200 per shirt I will find a more reputable cleaner to do business with.
