El Cortez Restaurant & Lounge Inc

I was very nervous coming to El Cortez in Country Club Hills after seeing the awful recent reviews and not eating there for many years, but last night was as good as it gets! The chips heated to perfection and the salsa Americanized enough even for my sensitive palate. The enchilada suizas were always my favorite with their great red sauce, and they still are just as delicious as I remember. The service was completely hands on, bringing what we ordered, explaining the menu correctly, refilling our water and drinks as needed. Then as we were ready to ask for the check, our waitress comes to the table with a "group" dessert for the birthday girl. Nobdy told our waitress. She must have seen us toasting to our friend's birthday and was so thoughtful to add such a nice touch to an already great evening.



I must add that I first went to El Cortez at its flagship restaurant in Blue Island 25 years ago. Moving out to the suburbs later, I was glad another popped up in Country Club Hills. I am elated to say that I've never had a bad meal or service there during these years and last night was just as exceptionally appealing as always. Rrrrrreba! Rrrrrrreba!
