Overall

I own a landscaping company and exclusively used Cape Fear Turf Farm for a couple years. Within the last 12 months, my company spent $39,770 with Cape Fear. I put out approximately 80 pallets of Jamur Zoysia from December of 2013 through April of 2014. It wasn't greening up with spring rolled around so I contacted the owner, Pistol. He told me to fertilize and it would come up. May rolled around and the office told me the same answer- fertilize and it will green up. June came, and it hadn't turned green. Finally, they sent a worker out to look at 4 of the 8 yards that I had sodded in the previous months. He agreed that it didn't look good but told me to fertilize and he would be back in 30 days to re-assess and tell me how much they could help me with when I had to purchase more sod. 30 days rolled around and I contacted Cape Fear's office and they told me that worker would not be out again and they offered me 11 pallets for free. I then contacted the owner of the company, Pistol, personally 3 times with no call backs. I took the 11 and patched up 1 yard that needed it, but had to purchase 38 more pallets from a competitor. In all 49 pallets of grass did not green up and I had to cut it all out, haul off the debris, add new soil, re-grade, and install the new sod. It cost me thousands and they wouldn't even call me back. Very unprofessional and I regret using the company. They were very professional before all of this happened, but then they turned very unprofessional with the no call backs to me. I am now using Oakland Plantation and so far the service and product has been great. I hope the owner of Cape Fear changes his call back methods with his future clients

Overall

I purchased 2.75 pallets of Jumur Zoysia on April 25, 2014. I cannot comment on the sod, except that it is mostly brown. Cape Fear assures me it will turn green.

This was my third and largest purchase. My experience has been the same each time. The sales rep acts as if they are doing you a favor to sell to you and the people assisting in loading are less than helpful.

My last experience was AWFUL; I had to follow the loaders about five miles to the location where my grass had been recently cut. The equipment they had would not load my pallets into my 14' trailer. The fork truck driver damaged my trailer drop gate and never appoligized or acknowledged his error. The three men sent to load us out watched as myself and my friend hand loaded almost 1400 sf of sod; about 5,000 lbs.

I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE AGAIN BECAUSE OF THE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

They were great to deal with over the phone when ordering. Jamur Zoysia sod came on date/time promised. Fresh cut that morning. Sod was in good shape, with only a few couple bad rolls (not really bad, just not quite as lush as the others). We laid 3800 square feet ourselves over the course of the next 36 hours. At the 2 week mark, the sod has rooted nicely. Currently nearing the 3 week mark, and just gave it its first mowing. Looks great, very pleased. Highly recommended!

I spent a large sum of money to have my entire lawn resodded with Cape Fear Turf Farm's JaMur Zoysia by the turf farm staff. Although I'm very happy with this type of sod, the quality of the work in laying the sod is very poor! There are gaps between pieces of the sod, very uneven surface, and most outrageous of all, totally DEAD areas of sod. In spite of watering VERY heavily every day (twice daily for a total of 5-1/2 hours) their constant response to my complaints was "the sod isn't getting enough water." That's a bunch of malarkey because the soil beneath those dead areas is wet!! Furthermore, some of those pieces of sod appeared dead when first laid. I was told it had been cut that very same morning and knew that was an outright lie because sod can lay on a pallet for weeks at places like Home Depot or Lowes and not look that bad! After constant complaints, I was told they would replace those bad areas. They haven't made good on that promise and now they won't answer my phone calls. My suggestion to anyone in the Wilmington area looking for a nice-looking lawn is to have another landscaper lay the sod. In all probability, they wouldn't accept bad sod from the farm and would be more likely to replace bad areas.

Great service! On time!

These guys were great! They always answered my questions and delivered right on time. The only thing I wish they did was offer instructions on how to take care of it. They answered questions but some paperwork work have been helpful. But like I said they were amazing. I will certainly call them for more when I need it.
