Not a very professional response to pbdfpbdf. Kind of makes me believe what she said is true. Thank God there are people out there that take the time to give thorough evaluations. I'm only leaving one star because its the minimum. Would like to leave 0 stars.

I would have to agree with the...

I would have to agree with the original post. The ONLY reason that they do bi-weekly payments is because they get more money that way. Every fourth month you actually make THREE payments. There are no months in which you only make 1 payment. There are 4.3 weeks in a month. This is the only gym, or any place that I have ever seen that does bi-weekly payments. Fortunately, with the high pricing it keeps the trash out and helps it from being overly packed. The other gyms just charge so little that they get so packed it's hardly even worth it. To whoever posted the comment to the original post, that is incredibly immature and appears to be written by a 3rd grader. I honestly hope for Gold's sake that you are not an employee representing their company. If the Athletic Club wasn't so much more out of my way than Gold's is, I would gladly go there.



Personally, if people are so worried about their gym payments coming out directly when they get paid, they should probably be using that money for better things. It's living life paycheck to paycheck like that, and going to one of the most expensive gym's in Corpus, which cause them to live that way.

Horrible gym!

My husband and I are both previous Golds Gym members (approx 10-15 yrs ago) -- myself in FL; my husband in TX, DC, and VA. After relocating to TX, on my initial visit w/ Golds in Corpus, its Sales Mgr advised that they were a large-volume gym and thus did not have to offer teacher, military or law enforcement discounts. He also advised that they did not have to compete because they were a high volume corporate club. He stated that the cost of membership was "$75.96 per month plus tax." He then gave me a 7-day guest pass for me and my husband. After the 7-days, during the drafting of our contract, he reiterated the cost per month and advised that I would have to pay for the "last month" of the contract plus a few days proration between my contract date and the first Friday. He clarified that Golds auto-drafted accounts every other Friday and that the membership would be split between two payments per month on a bi-weekly basis. I inquired about this and called my husband and handed the phone to him so he could explain it to him. He stated to both me and my husband that their club, along with a few other satellite clubs, had received feedback from its members, who preferred to have their payments withdrawn bi-weekly because, most people were paid bi-weekly. My husband questioned this practice and was given no alternative. My husband and I advised him that as long as the amounts were equal to the monthly rate, there was no problem, to which he concurred. When my husband arrived home, he reviewed the printout of the contracts and was dismayed. He noticed that the pre-tax rate we were actually paying was $82.29/mo and not the previously quoted rate of $75.96/mo. At first, I did not believe it and even showed my husband where they made me pay for the "last month" at $75.96 pre-tax. My husband diligently pointed-out that there was no verbiage on the contract stating "last month," and the amount was neither figured into the contract verbiage nor its period of service. The following day, my husband visited with the GM and discussed the issue with him. My husband was seemingly treated with no concern. He was told that he must have misunderstood the Sales Mgr and if he did like his contract, he could cancel it. Shocked at the aloof attitude and given no choice, my husband cancelled our memberships. Yet, after canceling and promised by the GM that no charges would occur, we were still charged over $120 dollars auto-drafted out of our account and are still awaiting the credit. My husband and I have shared this miserable experience as well as the nonchalant attitude from the notably young and inexperienced sales staff at Golds in Corpus with our neighbors and fellow members of the military/federal government community. Ironically, especially with those like us who were previous Golds members at one time or another, all shared similar stories about how they were treated with ignorance, how each was advised that Golds Corpus was a high-volume gym and therefore did not have to offer any concessions to its military/law enforcement members, and how there was consistently some kind of miscommunication between the sales staff and potential members regarding the actual cost of the membership due to the bi-weekly drafts. Thus, a majority of our friends/neighbors/associates in our community have refused to join Golds Corpus and looked elsewhere. As previous members, my husband and I were looking forward to finally re-joining Golds after a long military career that kept us apart for an extended time from our favorite gym; only to find out that due to reasons and/or human nature beyond our comprehension, we would be treated in a way that would ensure we never return again.

Well this idiot of a person has way too much time on their hands and is probably that one customer that walks into every business and wants to be treated as of they are king. Boo go back to wherever you came from, Corpus Christi is not for you. GO on and get a membership elsewhere, you probably have no idea how to workout and are way overweight.
