I am responding to the review by KevinP and his posting of a private response he received from one of the owners of Diamond Jewelry Company in Coppell. I have been a customer of this store for a number of years, even prior to when the current owners purchased the store. It is a locally owned business and especially since the current owners, Royce and Suzanne, have owned the store, I received excellent service from them. I have had repairs done at the store and have also purchased numerous items. The experience KevinP detailed in his review, which seems like it may have left out some important details, doesn't match up with my experience with this business i like this store and will continue to shop there regardless of whether KevinP does or not....probably best that he doesn't.

Take away – Dishonest, cheat, and greedy, buyer beware

I went there with my fiancé and talked to Royce about a ring he had and a similar one I found in a catalog. He told me he could order the catalog ring but it would be cheaper to make it and it would have larger band diamonds. He described in detail how they would go about making the ring. He showed me a couple of diamonds to fit the ring, but I wasn't settled on the diamond yet, the cost for the ring was $750, the diamond was $1,500, he said it would be ready in three weeks as he had jewelry to be worked ahead of me, I put a $1,000 deposit down on the ring. A few days later, I told him I would supply my own 1.5 ct Morrisonite rather than buy the diamond from him, he wasn’t happy about that. I took the stone to him the 2nd week on Friday morning. As it happened, Fed Ex had just made a drop off and Royce was opening the package and showed me the setting he had just taken from it, he told me it was my ring, it was the same mount that was in the catalog. He said they still had to make some modifications on it like drilling out the holes on the band to put bigger diamonds in it, and change the mount for the stone in the center. I gave him the stone and he said it would be ready in a week.

He called me Saturday morning on the 3rd week and said the ring was ready. When I went to the store to get it, I saw that it the catalog ring, it looked nice but it was not the ring he had agreed to make. The diamonds were the same small diamonds he had used to talk me into making his ring. The band modifications involved filling in three holes on each side which looked like it had been done by cutting out a curved piece and putting straight piece put in. The center stone mount was unchanged. Even though it was not the ring I ordered, it was acceptable and I had obligations, Royce knew that also. So I asked him how we settle this out and he tells to call it even, I reminded him that the agreed price of the ring was $750, and I had a $1,000 deposit so he owed me $250. He was evasive about the extra work to justify the extra cost. He said that he had to make some profit, and when I brought my own diamond he wasn't making enough profit on the ring. His dishonesty was evident and I could have told him to refund my money and give my stone back but it was apparent he wouldn’t. Since he had my money, it was up to me to convince him to refund the difference which I perceived to be a losing battle. I asked about warranty and got nothing in writing just a worthless verbal promise.

I sent him a copy of this review before posting it, here is his unedited reply to me:

If you post this slander on line you had better tell the whole truth. Tell how you loved the ring until I would not give you back your $250.00. Tell the weight of the ring and anybody will know that the ring is not fragile. Tell how you brought in a stone that was much larger than the stone that you had originally agreed upon and that expensive modifications had to be made. Tell the diamond weight, ruby weight, and quality of stones and see if there is someone who would give you a better deal. Tell people the quality and size of the diamond that I was going to sell you for $1500.00 and see if you could get a better deal elsewhere. I gave you the best deal that you would be able to find in the metroplex because your girlfriend was a good friend of Becky Pierson. Check out the real facts! I don't pretend to know anything about your business but you think that you are an expert in mine. You had better check it out. As for calling me dishonest and a cheat, I have more lifelong friends, business associates, and customers that can testify to my character than you can possibly count. When a reporter writes something without expressing all the facts, they get in serious trouble. If you want to post this slander then you better gather all the facts and post those as well.

Wow, nice guy, wished I'd known beforehand.

Best choice in DFW for your jewelry needs! This locally owned store is a far better choice than a huge chain store that often scams the customers into spending too much money. The staff is knowledgable, trustworthy, and sincerely cares about the customers. I reccomend them to all my friends for wedding rings, anniversaries, and birthday presents for a wide range of ages!!

Don't bother

After discovering that this business sells diamonds that are not certified (and told that if I wanted it certified I could send it off to "the lab" to have it done after I purchased it) I then discovered that although they claim that they "stand by their jewelry" they do not perform basic maintenance other than inspections and cleanings on wedding rings after the first year without a charge. If you know what you want and refuse to be scammed, don't shop here. Without asking pointed questions you could be buying something that is not what you thought it was.
