Pricing is a little high, but partially because it is considered a special care doctor or whatnot. However, the doctors are extremely informative and knowledgeable, devoted, and thorough in their examination and diagnosis.

Macular Degeneration
Intravitreal injections are used to treat a form of macular degeneration known as wet macular degeneration as well as to treat macula edema caused by wet macular degeneration, diabetes and strokes in the eye. Dr. Newman currently administers Lucentis and Eylea injections in the office. Most of these injections are covered by insurance carriers.

Cataract Surgery
Cataracts are surrounded by a thin membrane or capsular bag, which holds your natural focusing lens. When a cataract is removed, the thin membrane is left behind and an IOL (intraocular lens) is placed inside the capsular bag. Often with time (months or years), patients who have had cataract surgery will begin to experience some cloudy vision, like a film. This occurs in about 20% of the post-cataract surgeries. Dr. Newman will then use the YAG Laser in the office to dissolve an opening in the capsular bag. This offers a clear path for the light to pass through the eye, offering brighter and clearer vision. This short procedure is quick and painless. You can resume all activities immediately following the laser procedure including driving.
Eye Exam
In some cases, these conditions can be treated using a laser to seal any breaks in the retina. While laser treatment is not always the treatment required, Dr. Newman will be able to determine your needs once a thorough eye examination is completed. Dr. Newman works closely with local Retina Specialists.

Diabetic Retinopathy
These circulation changes are known as diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy is the weakening of blood vessels in the retina, which leaks fluid and blood, leaving the retina malnourished. Some symptoms of diabetic retinopathy are blurred vision, loss of vision or cloudy vision.

Ultrasound
A small incision is made in order to remove the eye's cloudy lens - a cataract. Using ultrasound technology, Dr. Newman emulsifies (breaks up) the cloudy lens. Once the cataract has been removed, an intraocular lens implant (IOL) is placed where the cataract once rested.
