Overall

I didn't want to give a star, but had to in order to submit this review. Having full coverage with this insurance company, and was already off in a bad way after being hit by a recreational vehicle... their claims adjuster acted like I was at fault and about refused to assist me in any way as to getting back on my feet. Two weeks after filing the claim, without consultation or notification, closed out my claim in which I had the rental company vehicle collection department calling me about how a vehicle has been 20 days due back for a return. I can see why they're only a local company, don't waste your money.

worst insurance company i have seen, i have called and paid home and auto insurance by full amount before the dead line, after a month got a letter saying my insurance will be cancelled, called serveral time and finally got hold of different personal at different times but every one told the issue has been fixed at all the time, got another letter to pay the amount and again called and after several attempts got an agent and he fixed also said he communicated to my loan company. after a month i get a refunded check not even half the money i paid, the insurance was for 12 months and after 2 months of starting they return even 6 months worth of money.

Worst auto insurance company ever, treats you like dirt and will lie to your face.

Had an accident a few days before Christmas, where someone without a driver's lic hit me in a car they didn't even own. Called American Commerce right away and gave them all the information about the accident. Called the agent assigned to my case the next day and he tells me that it isn't his case anymore and to call another agent named K. Finally get a hold of K a few days later and they tell me that they were never assigned the case and that the agent I originally called, Jeremy was in charge of my claim all along.



Got Jeremy on the phone again a day or 2 before Christmas and he tells us everything is handled and that he called the tow truck company and extended the rental car. Well the following Monday we get a call from our rental call agency wondering where their car was, turns out nothing had been done and no one from American Commerce had contacted them.



Called American Commerce constantly the next week, no calls back no matter how many messages left nor when we called. Finally we go to a local branch and their agent had to call the company to get someone else and they finally straightened the rental car, tow truck, and body shop out. Another week passes with American Commerce not even bothering to send an appraiser to check out the damage. Eventually get an estimate written by the appraiser of the damages, the body shop checks out the car themselves and found out that the American Commerce appraiser didn't even bother looking inside and missed a massive amount of missed damages, making the repair bill almost triple the amount.



I get a call back from Jeremy who mumbled something about the car being salvage, I told him hang on for a moment and went to tell my family. I found out Jeremy had hung up the phone, it'd been less then a minute! The next day I found out that they towed my car away to be salvaged without even asking for permission or even notifying me.



Many, many, many more visits and calls later with absolutely no calls back from American Commerce, an agent from their total loss department, Christine calls me with some information. Gave me much needed updates and I felt like I was finally getting help. Unfortunately this all ends when they valued my car at less then several local listings in the same condition. I send them the listings and their attitude goes sour immediately making very crass remakes about how I must not understand English and needed a translator because of my non American name and accent. Also making very, very rude remarks about how they had to talk to other people in my family and taking on a very hissy and annoyed atmosphere because I dared to ask for slightly more money and provided proof of the cars value.



This last part has been going on for weeks, I try to call Jeremy or Christine and never get a reply, I tell other American Commerce agents to pass along messages to call me back and I get nothing. I call their supervisors and leave messages and nothing. I was originally very understanding in the delays because of the holidays but was only taken advantage of, for being a sap. Utterly no customer service to speak of with people that shouldn't be anywhere near fields that deal with customers, very crass, rude, and racist remarks with no help in sight. Do not do business with these people no matter what.

Roof Leak

My home in AZ had a leak, I called American Commerce Insurance. First they sent an appraiser who just visited the home and said it was maintenance issue, without looking at the roof. When I sent pictures of the roof and where it had the issue, they said a broken roof tile cannot cause leak, it is the builders design flaw and wouldn't pay for it. This after several months of trying to talk to someone, They will not return my calls and when I reached someone I was put on hold for ever. Avoid them at all cost. Since there is no agent assigned for you, no one will take responsibility and you are shuttled around. I give them one star since I gave to give something. By the way, my issue is not resolved.

Doesn't want to pay...

During the severe storm of February 2009 my roof along with the roofs of several of mhy neighbors sustained wind damage. All of my neighbors got new roofs from their insurance companies but American Commerce said my roof could be repaired. I contacted three different roofing companies and none of them would repair the roof. They said that it was too badly damaged. I ended up paying to replace it myself.
