There are physicians performing cosmetic surgery today who were not doing it twenty years ago. In addition to Plastic Surgeons who have always been considered the “experts”, other physicians and surgeons are now trying to gain more credibility as cosmetic surgeons. Many otolaryngologists (ENT), advertise as “Facial Plastic Surgeons”, and perform cosmetic procedures. Dermatologists are now advertising in the Yellow Pages under the Plastic Surgery heading, as are Ophthalmologists. Obstetricians, Gynecologists, Family Medicine, and Internal Medicine doctors are also doing liposuction. You can choose any doctor you want to perform your procedure, but please be careful, and be informed. If you want a Plastic Surgeon to perform your procedure, then make sure the person you see is a Plastic Surgeon. When you call to make your appointment, you must ask, “Is the doctor board certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery ”. If he is not, he may not be a Plastic Surgeon.

Dr. Sexton did his internship at The Medical College of Ohio, in Toledo, Ohio, prior to completing a five year General Surgery Residency in Columbia, S.C. After completing his General Surgery training, Dr. Sexton went back to The University of Kentucky, where he did his Plastic Surgery training, in what many people feel was one of the premier training programs in the country.
Reconstructive Surgery
My name is Greg Sexton, and I am the surgeon at Capital Plastic Surgery. Although I am a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, I now perform predominantly cosmetic surgery, and less and less reconstructive surgery. I perform all types of cosmetic surgery on the face and body, so you can feel comfortable calling our office regardless of what it is you are wanting to accomplish.
