12/5/12, a MHS PFS employee sent my supervisor and my husband's employee supervisor our medical and medical financial accounting information. Our supervisor did not require our dates of medical/surgical services, type of service, or what MHS PFS 'thinks' they are owed. MHS PFS employees double and triple billed a couple of my accounts that I paid twice before I caught on to their scheme. No one could figure out what happened to my overpayments.I found out that a PFS employee took my overpayment from over billing 'paid' accounts and paid another patient's accounts. I had to 'fight' to get a refund-still don't know if it was the correct refund! In fact, the Director stated in a letter, MHS does NOT have to refund overpayments! Misappropriation of funds? MHS has my check, has not cashed it, not returned it, but separated the account into 4 accounts, all the same date of service (1/2/12), with 4 different balances and sent them to collections.Interesting accounting practices!
Non-providers looked at my husband's nursing station 'paper chart'. MHS compliance never investigated the HIPPA violation. I filed a complaint to DHHS in Denver-don't file with MHS because they protect the employees and not the patient's medical privacy. My husband attempted to return to work part time with accommodations.MHS terminated him while he was on LOA, took insurance, and closed our flex account for months.City Attorney reinstated him ONLY for MHS to terminate him when he attempted to return full time with accommodations while on LOA.MHS violated their policies (2,12,17)never convened a ADA committee, denied him extended LOA,and violated numerous Federal employment laws.A EEOC claim was filed. The same players who did this to us are still employed at MHS.If you're looking for employment, MHS is NOT the place to look. I think they are "Educated beyond their intelligence". They don't deserve even one star!

My mother who is 77 years old and has dementia had to come in to have her pace maker removed because of an infection. The pace-maker was removed on a Monday, she was put in ICU for observation and had a catheter put in place because she was very shaky and unsteady on her feet. They removed the catheter when they moved her to a regular room late at night and it unsettled her and confused her terribly and she gave the night nurse a hard time and pulled out her iv's. I was not called and should have been, I was staying close by in a hotel room. She had another procedure on Thursday to put in another pace-maker but had to lay on her back for 4 hours! When she had to use the bathroom she could only pee the bed and that was humiliating and awful for her. Also her dinner was left out at the nurses station without any one knowing because they were busy changing her bed at the time. Also she never got a bath the whole time either. I understand you are short staffed but I really think these issues need to be addressed.

I am a Disabled Iraq and Afghanistan Veteran.
I was transported by EMS to the ER with my Service Dog. When arrived at the ER I was put into a private room with my Service Dog which is prescribed by my Doctor for Military PTSD. I was approached by a nurse who told me she said "I couldn't have my Service Dog as they don't have the facilities for him". I wasn't in any condition to fight back and protect my rights. Being discriminated against me and fighting back that the hospital and the nurse violated ADA federal law and Colorado law interfering with a Service. The Nurse took my Service Dog from me. And took him out of the room. I was transferred in the to another facility for 2 weeks. I found out later from my wife that the ER nurse called her to pick up my Service Dog from the ER. My wife was called a further 2 more times by the ER staff to pickup my Service Dog. Harassing her to pickup my Service Dog. I attempted to resolve this matter and dealing with the patient coordinator and received excuses for there behavior and no apology for the treatment I received .

I am ashamed & embarrassed by the care, or lack there of, received during 5 hours in the ER at Memorial Hospital Central following a traumatic injury which resulted in multiple injuries including broken bones, lacerations, & lots of road rash. As hours ticked by, actively bleeding on the chairs & floor of the waiting area, we made a couple checks at front desk to ask about the status of care & whether we could get wound care supplies or treatment. After more than 2 hours, a security guard was kind enough to bring us some gauze which we used in the dirty waiting area bathroom to try to stop some bleeding and clean some of the debris from the wounds. Clearly forgotten as a handful of other patients came and went (the ER wasn't even busy), staff slowly came to the realization of how long we had been waiting & imaging was finally done. The obvious fracture diagnosis was given & instructions to go home, wait and see, & follow up if needed. The displaced fx with torn fascia & muscle were treated as no big deal, but thankfully we have enough medical knowledge to realize an orthopedic consult and possibly surgery was necessary. We had to actually request the referral to an orthopedic physician (go figure, ORIF was necessary). Thank goodness we were able to get a sling & bandages from Walgreens because this ER didn't provide. The entire interaction left me deeply saddened & embarrassed for the healthcare profession. The fact that these practices may regularly occur to poor, unsuspecting patients who are ill &/or injured, having one of the worst days of their life, & in a vulnerable situation needing care just makes me sick...but not sick enough to ever go back to this ER. Having worked in the healthcare field for more than a dozen years, I have never experienced such indifference, lack of empathy, & poor standards of care. I hope that this experience falls on someone's eyes who tries to make meaningful & positive changes for the benefit of future patients.

Brought my boyfriend in to get help. He was in extreme pain, with high blood pressure, vomiting, chest pain and having trouble breathing. He was treated rude by the front desk adm. as was I. The Dr. Was very rude. Will never use this hospital again. Had to call 911 just to get them to get him back to the er after 2.5 hrs of waiting.

I unfortunetly had to stay at your hospital and was mortified one evening. I refussed to give my blood for the CDC unless they told me what it was for. Then all hell broke loose on the 5th floor. I was terrified and could not go anywhere. I was a fall risk and could not even get out of my bed. I will not ever come back to your hospital due to the nurses on the 5th floor. I wish I could get video tapes of what went on one evening when they tried to take my blood and I refused. Pretty much all the nurses who participated in terrifying me should be sent to jail.

I had my daughter there and she had to stay in the NICU for a little while. She was NOT a premie but was there for other medical reasons. I was breastfeeding my daughter and the NICU nurse said "I don't know how you can just sit there all day and do nothing"...I was appalled. Not only were the other nurses talking rudely about their patients while they sat at the nurses station but they treated everyone like garbage. I wasn't even discharged, what was I going to do? Sit in my room while my newborn was by herself? They also never listened to the parent's wishes, they kept giving her formula when we strictly stated that she was breastfed. We contacted all the higher ups because of the way we were treated. Absolutely the worst hospital in the Springs. Horrible people, horrible "care providers". They are only there for a paycheck.

My sister and I were in an accident two weeks ago. She have had two visits here now, due to a persistent headache, and all they have done is prescribed heavy medications without actually checking her over. That is absolutely unprofessional and all they had to tell her was, "if you had a leakage in your brain, you'd be dead by now". Very reassuring. Way to take your jobs seriously, guys.

I am an ICU nurse who came to Memorial North ER in Septic Shock. The care here was horrible. Do not go there!!! I was in renal failure and they never monitored my urine output. I gave the ER nurse urine for a UA and she threw it out. The overloaded me with fluids and I developed Bilat pulmonary effusions, pericardial effusion, fluid in my abdomen. I had to go back in the hospital - the time I went to Penrose and was there for 4 days.

don't go to dr. curry or memorial hospital

Don't use dr. curry for your heart problems. he is very unprofessional and rude to his patients. he has banned me from getting care at the hospital because i questioned him about the care for my heart. he dropped me as patient and won't allow any cardiologists to see me at memorial hospital. i am having trouble finding a dr. because of dr. curry. memorial hospital needs to be held accountable for what the drs. and staff do to their patients.

This is for Memorial's Outpatient Surgery Center at Printer's Park

When a patient goes in for surgery the place they go to should be comfortable and relaxing. Memorial's Outpatient Surgery at Printers Park is anything but relaxing and comfortable. The place reminds me of a surgery factory. You go in and sit in a chair until your surgery. There are no televisions or private cubicles-Memorial Central and North both have private cubicles and a television in each. You are made to wait for at least an hour and a half with nothing to take your mind off the impending surgery. The staff is nice but it took my nurse several tries to get an IV started and she even was digging around at one site which was very painful. Very cold and impersonal surgical center. It's too bad they have spent millions in upgrades at their two hospitals and buying equipment yet have done nothing to improve the patient experience at their outpatient surgery center at Printers park

Yesterday, MHS 'REFUSED' to provide me with a mammogram appointment that are self scheduled. No doctor order is required for a routine mammogram. Scheduling employees: Karen, Cynthia, and the 'Patient Advocate'-Michele would NOT provide me with a mammogram appointment after an hour. MHS REFUSED ME HEALTH CARE. I have M-Net that 'requires' me go to MHS. One star is too generous for denial of health care.

Had to use the emergency room ...

Had to use the emergency room late at night. Was treated with respect and given awesome care. While I was there, some idiot was yelling in front of the entrance to the ER, but their security team had the guy handled quickly and without allowing him to continue to make a scene and disturb the people worried about their loved ones being cared for.

On Februaty 9, 2012 my 8 year ...

On Februaty 9, 2012 my 8 year old daughter was transported via ambulance from Pueblo to memorial children Hospital, she was diagnosed as having a ruptured Appendix and was very sick little girl. Our 5 week journey began....we were in EXCELLENT hands from that point on, Dr. Baesl and P.A. Reynolds put my husband and I at ease with a wealth of information and was very patient with us. During our 7 day stay in the hospital I was very impressed with every one we came into contact with, the RN's and Techs were very compassionate and down right AWESOME. Thank You to all!

Stellar Medical Facility and Staff

There are (3) things that really stood out while being treated at Memorial Hospital.

1. The delicate, professional care that I received was above any/all expectations. I went in for an emergency C-section nearly on my death bed. My BP was 220-110, all organs were failing. I was hours away from non-existance. My husband didn't think I was going to make it, nor did he think our baby was. The team of nurses, doctors and state of the art treatment facility came through and gave me a jump start in life and a miracle baby born 2 months ahead of time.

2. The NICU was really responsive and catered to every need of our baby. During all hours of the day and night my baby has the best care he could have. He was monitored for breathing and was on a feeding tube. The nursing staff made a Valentine Card from our baby to us Mom and Dad. Additionally, the nursing staff encouraged our baby to get better and wrote a poem that was placed above his bed. They could not be more caring.

3. When we went in for the treatment of the C-Secion and the Baby's visit at the NICU, we came with no insurance. We did not ever feel that we were second class. Eventually, our insurance kicked in right in time, but the Doctors and Nurses were not biased in our care.

I strongly recommend Memorial Hospital to any and all individuals that want the best medical care to go to visit the Medical team at Memorial Hospital.

Thank you Memorial Hospital. We apprecitate you all very much!
