7-Eleven

November 5, 2008 was a momentous occasion for all to be excited about the first African-American President that represented not just African-Americans but ALL Americans. We stood in line inside the 7-eleven at 9019 Old Branch and Piscataway, in Clinton, MD for over four (4) hours waiting for the "Special Edition" of the Washington Post. We were first told that the papers would be $1.50 and $1.59 with tax. It was announced by the policeman after asking the manager the price and she said to him $1.50 and he asked how much with tax and she said $1.59. I witnessed the whole thing. I was about the tenth (10th) person in line. By the time I got my paper they said it was $2.00 and I questioned her why I had to pay $2.00 when it had been announced that the price was $1.59. I did not get an answer but was told that "THE PRICE IS $2.00". My paper was taken out of my hand twice( by a male standing beside the manager) while I was trying to discuss the matter. I kept saying no, I want my paper and I am going to pay the $2.00 but this is wrong. The price on the paper was $1.50, they announced that with tax $1.59 and then later change the price to $2.00. She DID NOT ring up the papers in the cash register but gave us a paper and took the $2.00. SINCE SHE DID NOT RING THE PAPERS UP ON THE CASH REGISTER, "WE DID NOT GET A RECEIPT". I BELIEVE THIS IS AGAINST THE LAW. I want to make sure that someone knows this and does something about this. This is wrong. I think we need a public apology and the manager needs to be called in on the carpet and appropriate action taken to make sure that this never happens again. I WILL NOT shop at this 7-eleven and possibly others until this matter is CORRECTED.
