In 2006, I was involved in a rugby accident that left me with whiplash, muscular trauma in my head and neck, and a pinched occipital nerve in the back of my head. Since the accident, I’ve been plagued with migraines that would come three times per week, so much so that I even got permission from my office to lie down underneath my desk when it got too bad. I have been prescribed every pain killer I’ve heard of, and some I haven’t. I’ve seen deep-tissue massage therapists and a team of neurologists.

Sports Massage
Sports massage, as the name suggests, is a therapy designed for high activity people. Depending on the sport you will be playing there are different areas to treat both pregame and postgame. Pregame therapy focuses on preparing your muscles for high intensity motion. Usually lasting between 15 to 45 minutes the session is meant to stimulate circulation of blood and lymph fluids so that your body can perform at its peak. Increasing blood flow also helps postgame as the body is more prepared to heal damaged tissue which occurs with any high intensity work out.
