A dental sealant is a thin plastic film painted on the chewing surfaces of molars and premolars (the teeth directly in front of the molars) to fill in the cavity-prone grooves and crevices. Sealants have been shown to be highly effective in the prevention of cavities. Developed in the 1950's, they first became available in the early 1970's. The first sealant was accepted by the American Dental Association Council on Dental Therapeutics in 1972.

Tooth Extractions
Dr. Cheng may determine that you need a tooth extraction for any number of reasons. Some teeth are extracted because they are severely decayed; others may have advanced periodontal disease, or have broken in a way that cannot be repaired. Custom Whitening trays - Dr. Cheng will create a custom fit mouthpiece from an impression of the patient's teeth. The trays will then fit securely around each tooth. The professional strength whitening gel is applied in the trays and the trays are inserted into the mouth for 1-2 hours for 5-7 treatments. The whitening gel is offered in different flavors and strengths. The patient will have a whiter and brighter smile in about 1-2 weeks.
