In response to SadMomandSon: On behalf of Merriwood Christian Camp, we are so glad that God worked in your son's life the week he was with us. We realize that the pool can be a place that kids (especially boys) can get out of hand. Since that summer, we have taken specific steps to have aquatic observers both in the water as well as out of the water making sure things are safe and happy for all campers involved. We've also added some water activities to give kids more games to do during swim times. And we have done away with the noodles for some of the weeks. They can also choose to go to the climbing wall during the pool time if they prefer. We apologize if the details of the dismissal were not clearly expressed. We always welcome parent feedback and are always glad to try to clear up any camper issues or answer any questions or give details if asked. Please contact us if you'd like to discuss it further. And we hope he'll reconsider attending again in the future!

The most positive thing that c...

The most positive thing that came out of my son's experience at Camp Merriwood was that he accepted Christ as his personal savior and I give Merriwood an A+ for that - he had a wonderful time until the last day in which he was sent home early because of a false accusation of bullying - this situation was handled very poorly and has affected me and my son very negatively - Camp Merriwood, you need to have better training and you also need to take control of situations before they get out hand. I was never given a full explanation of what my son did or didn't do and that is very unfair to both he and I - This was the first camp my son has ever attended - he even used some of his savings to help pay his way, to show he really wanted to attend, but needless to say, he will NEVER attend this camp again because of this experience - he will carry this bad experience with him for the rest of his life because of the poor manner in which this situation was handled.
