I used Mr Benedict to prepare my elderly mother's taxes (in her 90s) for a couple years, and although he charged a lot, the quality of his work seemed fine and there were no problems. (A fairly simple and straightforward return.)

The major problem with this guy is that he simply refuses to respond to e-mails or phone messages left, and is just simply "incommunicado!" I had maybe one or two at the most questions per year relating to my mother's tax situation, and he NEVER responded to anything. And in case you're thinking it's because it was the busy tax season, my latest inquiry (on an important tax question) was in July - not exactly the busiest time of year for most tax accountants! (Two e-mails and one voicemail message left - NO response at all.) Also, these are questions that probably could have been answered with a one minute phone conversation.

So bottom line is if you want a guy who will do a decent tax prep job with no communication, he may be OK. But if you want someone who will at least have the courtesy to call you back or respond to an e-mail within a week or so when you need some quick advice, this is NOT the guy, and stay away! (He never even responded after I fired him, which I guess reflects the level of this guy's "caring.")
