Ive been employed with them since 2010 its now 2016 and im still at 10.00/hour. Ive put in request after request only to be denied multiple times. I am a great employee & this i know. i dont call off im never late and ive worked in dispatch for 3 years with them. ( which is a whole headache itself) as well as a security officer. Its absolutely no room for advancement,they dont care about how your getting treated by the clients they contract with, whatever the client say you did it goes, management dont care about they employees which is crazy because they are the ones in the field making kates money for instance the contract can pay 15/hour a guard but kates is only gonna pay you 10 maybe 11 out of that. Go on facebook you'll see them posting pics of them buying rolls royces, attending prestigious events with their fur coats & ballroom dresses all while the employees are starving trying to figure out how the lights are gonna get paid. its sickening & lets not talk about how the checks bounce,how certain currency exchanges will not cash their checks. its no direct deposit, when you go up there to get your check its so unorganized,its like the aid office line. long & frustrating. Dont ask why ive been with them this long, ive been looking very hard to get away. lord knows i have. The owner Mr.Kates is such a sweet guy its really the family he got working in his office. Kates will be good as a part time job but dont make a mistake trying to make it

I'm a journalist and I went to six cities to cover a story on the Elephant In The Room documentary. However, I went to the 67th block of EAST END where Kates Detective Agency works. I had a friend who lives in the area, and I said to her I would like to interview some of the people in the area. Kate detective officer said I couldn't film there on East End! The Kates officer who was driving vehicle #2 on Weds 9-3-14 on East End was very coerce, rude, and aggressive with his action and behavior, he threaten to arrest me, and told me I couldn't have the camera on the property, and I would have to get it cleared through management! So I put the camera back into my vehicle, then I re-approach the guys I was about to interview to see if I could find out if they would be interested in a new location that didn't have the constraints as this area did. I told the guys I was interviewing I didn't have a camera now we can talk, they where happy! But then the Kates Detective officer re-approach me saying I didn't have to say that and he again engage me with talking about arresting me and that I couldn't be there talking to them! The Kates Detective went on talking about how tired he was and that he had no sleep and he went further into the abyss of empty words coming off sounding like a complete thug with no legal grounds what so ever! I knew then that he had cross the line! I didn't engage Kates detective because it was clear he didn't know the law! Kates Detective violated my first Amendment rights, freedom of speech, right to assemble, and the right to the free press! I put the camera away although I was standing in the city street that runs down 67 block of East End in Chicago Il. The problem is that these untrained so-called detectives have no knowledge of the law, and is a $50,000,000 lawsuit waiting to happen!

Dont go there for a job, the pay and raises are non existent.As a whole,the company was fined several thousand dollars by the IDPFR for violations of the Detective Act. Management does more to cover up issues and lie than to address them. Owner William Kates in hard if not impossible to reach thru the myriad of jersey walls they have set up to insulate him from the actual operation. The one and ONLY time I used this service I had to return to my property and found the guards(Two of them) asleep. Complaints and demands for refunds of money were never addressed by management. You would be better off leaving your doors unlocked than to hire anyone from this company. When you go to the office on Claremont,they seem more interested in the clothes they are selling than servicing clients. If I could rate this company with negative numbers I would.
