New York Tailor

I was treated very poorly at this location today. I went in with a suit that needed alterations and the woman that took care of me commented on the fact that the suit didn't fit me. That was ok even though she said it in a very condescending way. She then told me that the suit was out of style and not to waste her time and my money altering it. It was a Donna Karan suit for men and it was about $1000 new. She told me it was 30 years old and that I needed to go to Syms and break down and buy a nice suit. She said it just like that. I told her that it was not 30 years old and she said that the fabric was horrible and that the suit was ugly. I cannot believe that she did not realize that she was crossing the line here. In summary, I will never patronize this establishment unless I feel like getting insulted. New York tailors with a New York attitude.

I discovered Tony through a friend about 15 years ago, and what a find! My mother was a great seamstress, so I'm familiar with quality work, and that's all I've ever experienced in all of my very many alterations over the years. It doesn't matter how silly some of the projects have been, he's always done a beautiful, professional job. He knows exactly how I like my clothes to fit, and I have complete confidence in his work. I'd be lost without him. Tony's been teamed up with his sister the last couple of years, who I understand is equally qualifiied, so I'd recommend you check out this brother/sister duo!

They are talented, accurate, and find solutions for your tailoring needs. I have gone up and down in size many times over the years, and thanks to them, I haven't had to keep buying all new clothes! Whether it is doing a hem, replacing a lining, tailoring a suit to fit, or making a new suit, Tony Vivone, his sister Lena and the other Tony who sits in the back are by far the best of the best.
