I hired Ed Lloyd and Assoc to file my individual tax return for 2012. I had foreign income and most accountants that I spoke with, did not feel comfortable filing my return. I made it a point to have a one on one before I paid for their service. I met with Tony.

I should have followed my gut and walked away. During the first meeting he made me feel like I may not be WORTH his time, because he is used to dealing with multimillion dollar clients as well as DINKS (double income no kids), and since I only made $65k, I really needed to be sure I wanted to hire him. He then continued to talk about his less than perfect decisions during his "party day's"~ too much information in my personal opinion~ however I understood the point he was trying to get across. According to Tony, the two accountants that I used previously, did EVERYTHING WRONG and I could be audited. Of course no one wants to hear that news, so I took the bait and let him talk me into spending $300 for his firm to amend my 2011 tax return. Well, he was able to "save" me a little bit of money ($300 or so). So I proceeded to hire him to do my 2012 return.

BUT WAIT!! Well let me go back for a minuet, during our "one on one", Tony explained that I would be looking at around $300-$400 for the return, I was okay with that, since according to him, it would now be done correctly. Fast forward to tax season~ I was out of town for business, and I specifically called and asked both Amanda and Tony if I would have a penalty or fee for filing my taxes on an extension. They both said "no fee at all". However, I was BLINDSIDED to find that not only did I owe North Carolina $1700!! I also had a $150 LATE FEE!!! On top of that, the cost of my tax return was almost $500!!! When I referred back to my bill sent from Amanda, she conveniently packed the fee's so I would never know I had a "late fee". COMPLETELY MISLEADING AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!!!! I also asked Amanda 4 times to email me any paper work, because I was no longer live in NC so I will not be able to get my mail. Although, what did she do? Yep~ she mailed it to my old address.



The only reason why I paid this firm a premium to do my taxes, was because I was assured that the return would be done right. On my last conversation with Tony his exact words were " I said I would do it right, I never said I would get you any money". I guess it was because he was too busy taking my money for himself. That is fine, however I could have went to H&R block and probably received better service. At least they are upfront with all their prices and fee's.

I would never recommend this firm to anyone.
