Normally, the hip functions as a “ball-and-socket” joint. The top of the thigh (femur) bone (ball) fits into a part of the pelvis called the acetabulum (socket), allowing the joint to move smoothly in multiple directions. Total hip replacement is a surgical procedure that replaces the hip joint with artificial parts (called prostheses). The most common cause of hip joint deterioration is osteoarthritis; other possible causes include inflammatory arthritis (eg, rheumatoid or psoriatic arthritis), hip disorders of infancy and childhood, osteonecrosis (avascular necrosis), and trauma.
Medical Weight Loss
Total knee replacement is one option to relieve pain and to restore function to an arthritic knee. The most common reason for knee replacement is that other treatments (weight loss, exercise/physical therapy, medicines, and injections) have failed to relieve arthritis-associated knee pain.

Ultrasound
The diagnosis of gluteus medius tear is based on physical examination of the patient, followed by palpation of the affected muscle, testing muscle power and assessing walking pattern or gait of the patient. Certain special tests such as single-leg squat test or a positive Trendelenburg sign confirm the diagnosis of gluteus medius tear. Sometimes, MRI or ultrasound may be helpful to show the pathological changes of the muscle.

Dr. Majestro was raised in Kimball, WV. He received his medical degree from West Virginia University in 1966. He completed his surgery residency at CAMC General Division and his orthopedic residency at Henry Ford Hospital. He served two years in the U.S. Army as chief of orthopedic services in Fort Polk, LA and served as clinical professor of orthopedics at West Virginia School of Medicine. Dr. Majestro is a general orthopedist with an interest in total joint replacement. He is affiliated with Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) in Charleston, West Virginia.
Arthroscopy
Arthroscopy diagnoses several knee problems, such as a torn meniscus or a misaligned patella (kneecap). It can also repair the ligaments of the joint. There are limited risks to the procedure and the outlook is good for most patients. Your recovery time and prognosis will depend on the severity of the knee problem and the complexity of the required procedure.

He received his medical degree from Marshall University and completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Texas Health Science in San Antonio, Texas under Dr. Charles Rockwood and Dr. James Heckman. Dr. Molina continued his education by completing a fellowship training program in sports medicine and joint replacement surgery under Jesse Delee, M.D. in San Antonio, Texas. He has practiced in Charleston, WV and Putnam County since 1993. Dr. Molina has been Board certified in orthopedic surgery since 1995 and a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and Orthopedic Trauma Association. He is a consultant sports physician for several area division I, II, and III collegiate level schools as well as area high schools. Dr. Molina specializes in shoulder, hip, and knee reconstruction.
Arthroscopy
The word arthroscopy comes from two Greek words, “arthro” (joint) and “skopein” (to look). The term literally means “to look within the joint.” During shoulder arthroscopy, your surgeon inserts a small camera, called an arthroscope, into your shoulder joint. The camera displays pictures on a television screen, and your surgeon uses these images to guide miniature surgical instruments. Because the arthroscope and surgical instruments are thin, your surgeon can use very small incisions (cuts), rather than the larger incision needed for standard, open surgery. This results in less pain for patients, and shortens the time it takes to recover and return to favorite activities.Shoulder arthroscopy has been performed since the 1970s. It has made diagnosis, treatment, and recovery from surgery easier and faster than was once thought possible.
Hip Replacement
Hip Arthroplasty may be performed on adults with a deteriorated hip. However, the replacement parts can break down over time, and healthcare providers generally recommend delaying hip replacement until it is absolutely necessary.

Total knee replacement, or total knee arthroplasty, is a surgical procedure in which parts of the knee joint are replaced with artificial parts (prostheses).
Knee Arthroscopy
Knee arthroscopy is a surgical technique that can diagnose and treat problems in the knee joint. During the procedure, your surgeon will make a very small incision and insert a tiny camera — called an arthroscope — into your knee. This allows them to view the inside of the joint on a screen. The surgeon can then investigate a problem with the knee and, if necessary, correct the issue using small instruments within the arthroscope.
