The other principle that Perilav is based on, is the fact that wound irrigation with jet lavage is probably the easiest method to cleanse the wound removing the products of inflammation and infection. This means that it probably must done at less than 24 hours intervals to be effective. We believe this can be done in the outpatient setting; hospital ward, emergency room, wound clinic, nursing home, etc. The only addition is a special irrigation bag with ostomy sealing tape that allows the wound and irrigant to be isolated. Neither the bed nor your shoes get wet. Our experience to date both with efficacy and ease of use has been phenomenal. Our product comes with a pulsatile irrigator and a bag kit that includes a flocculent package to congeal the fluids, a Chlorhexidene wound wipe to clean the wound, and a twisty to secure the bag full of fluids. Wound care has advanced over many years and has now become a major focus of a significant expenditures by health insurers and CMS, up to over $26 Billion. We need to focus on medical evidence with our treatments and medical products and the creation of the Perilav system was done to improve ‘early wound bed preparation’ in the treatment of chronic wounds. Lower right image is stage 4 pressure sacral ulcer in a 64 year old diabetic, with recent intertrochanteric hip fracture. Wound with tunneling measures 175 sq cm. Had wound vac for 4 months. Note local fecal contamination.
