Arthritis
Inflammatory Arthritis - Swelling and heat (inflammation) of the joint lining causes a release of enzymes which soften and eventually destroy the cartilage. Rheumatoid arthritis, Lupus and psoriatic arthritis are inflammatory in nature.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome can be treated with carpal tunnel release Surgery. Traditional surgery involves up to a 2- inch incision in the palm and wrist area, whereas endoscopic surgery involves one or two half-an-inch incisions and the use of an endoscope. During the surgery, the transverse carpal ligament will be dissected to release the pressure on the median nerve and enlarge the carpal tunnel. Your surgeon will decide which options are best for you based on your general and medical conditions.

Ultrasound
We understand that an accurate, timely diagnosis is the first step to healing / recovery. That is why we are able to offer on-site Xray and Ultrasound, and seek to refer you for a range of diagnostic services. These effective diagnostic services allow your doctor to recommend the most appropriate treatment for you, the patient.
MRI
Your doctor may recommend certain tests such as, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), discography, computed tomography (CT or CAT scan), and X-rays to identify the cause of pain. Patients with back pain caused from bulged or worn out intervertebral disks and patients with no significant facet joint disease are recommended for artificial disc replacement. The surgery is not recommended in patients with scoliosis, previous spinal surgery and morbidly obese.
X-Rays
Computed Tomography
X-rays will be obtained peri-operatively. It will also include a skyline X-ray of the patella to assess its location with respect to the knee. Occasionally CT scans are also obtained to allow a better determination of the degree of dislocation and bony anatomy.

Ricky joined Peak Orthopedics & Spine in 2008 and is the Physician's Assistant to Dr. Craig Loucks, Orthopedic Surgery.
Arthroscopy
The procedure involves taking a biopsy (sample) of the healthy cartilage from the knee through an arthroscopy (keyhole surgery). The size of the defect will also be assessed at this time. The cartilage biopsy is processed in a laboratory where the cartilage cells will be cultivated in a matrix and this takes approximately four to six weeks. Once the matrix or cartilage is ready, it will then be re-implanted. The re-implantation occurs through an arthrotomy where the joint is opened through a small incision to allow accurate placement of the cartilage graft.

Knee Replacement
The purpose of the procedure is to allow young people to remain active without the concerns of wearing out a knee replacement. The osteotomy will slow down the wear of the knee and buy time for the knee and delay a knee replacement.

Following a rigorous two year surgical residency rotation, Dr. Sharp was recruited by Achilles Podiatry in Indianapolis. He received his board certification in Foot Surgery in 1998 and his Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery certification in 2003. Dr. Sharp is also a Fellow in the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS).
