9/22/11:

Find another dentist! I have been twice and still have one more visit to go. I went in for a cleaning and consultation for veneer replacement or crowns. I already have veneers on my two front teeth but had my gums contoured so they are no longer the correct length. The hygienist was very rough and seemed inexperienced. She had to redo at least 5 x-rays. Then, the dentist never introduced herself to (I was a new patient). She just came in and started looking in my mouth and talking to the hygienist, not me. After all that, I never had a chance to discuss my veneer/crown options. Dr. Martin was gone and on to the next patient. I asked the hygienist the difference between the two and she recommended I get another set of veneers. We scheduled veneer installation for the next day. I show up the next day and find out that I have to get temporaries after Dr. Martin started working in my mouth. Btw, all dentists I have been to in the past numb you with the gel, wait a few minutes and then give you the shot in the mouth, well not Dr. Martin. She put on the gel and then immediately after started injecting me, extremely painful. When she finished, my temporaries are at least 3 shades darker than my teeth and they barely even look like teeth. I will see if I can upload a pic. I was so shocked and upset. I expressed my dislike, she stated that there was nothing she could do. She told me to go to the bathroom to rinse out my mouth and clean all the residue off my face and neck. When I got out of the bathroom she was on to the next patient. This dentist has poor communication skills and poor technical skills. Additionally, she stated, I hope your temporaries don't fall out because I'm going out of town. I can't say one positive thing about my experience with Dr. Martin. I will send an updated review when I get my permanent veneers, which she was unable to tell me when they would arrive.



10/6/11:

One of the veneers chipped over the weekend. I got it 'fixed' on 9/27/11, during that appointment I was informed that they veneers should arrive Friday, 9/30/11. But the office is not opened on Fridays. Tuesday, 10/5/11, comes and I decide to call them, to be told that they have not arrived yet. This office seriously has poor communication skills. In the meantime, I searched other dental offices in metro Atlanta and viewed their temporaries. None of which look as horrid as mine. My temporaries are lumpy, inconsistent and yellow with white spots here and there. I even emailed another dentist office and they stated that temporaries should be undetectable and smooth like the normal tooth surface. Furthermore, as I stated before I had veneers before on these same two front teeth and they were back within two days at a dentist's office in Duluth. I am just befuddled by Dr. Martin's practice.

Next time I will definitely not pick a dentist based solely on in-network provider and distance from home.
