Dr. Heimansohn and his colleagues at St. Vincent Heart Center use FDA-approved valves from Edwards Lifesciences (Sapien) and Medtronic (CoreValve). Valve surgery is 40 percent of the Heart Center's surgery volume .At St. Vincent Cardiovascular Research Institute, Dr. Heimansohn is an advisory board member and principal investigator of valve surgery techniques and cardiothoracic medical devices. He is an active physician-researcher involved in many types of single-site and multi-center clinical trials.
