Kokanee Cafe

We had the Duck with mushroom risotto and Trout with the putanesca with the crab cakes and it was one of the best meals I have had ever. I would get it again and definitely recommend it.

We had heard so many positive things about Kokanee. So much so that we arrived for a conference a day early to dine there on Saturday night, September 7, 2007. We enjoyed the service and settled in for what we hoped would be a memorable evening. The three of us appreciate good food and have dined widely.



We took their recommendation and ordeerd the special...rack of lamb. We were very hungry but were surprised that lamb was not good. Now, we don't know whether they had been unable to purchase good quality meat or, perhaps, the main chef was off that night. It wasn't so bad that we sent it back but was, instead, a meal below average, even ordinary.



We looked at each other and couldn't believe what we were tasting. We departed without ordering desert or coffee.



Based on reputation and, hence, high expectations, none or us would want to return. Perhaps this was a fluke but it was the worst meal we had in central Oregon in the five days that we were there.
