New Utrecht Public Library

Those librarians who are checking out books are so rude. This skinny and mean lady threw the list at me twice this month. I was not happy at first time. But the second time she threw the list at me and I was MAD. Even my 10 years old kid said, " She is mean and rude". We are paying her to serve the public. I just don't understand why she is taking this job if she is so unhappy with it. Or just because I am Asian lady. I will find out her name next time and post here.



But, those the librarian who sit at the information desk. They are friendly, nice and very aknowlegeable.

I went into the library, intending to get a new library card as I had lost mine years ago (lived in other states). However, that was hard to accomplish as one after another of the library staff that worked there, gave me an attitude, shown by verbal and visual means, and basically gave me the brush-off. For example, when I walked in, an old Jewish lady by the front desk gave me a rude, dismissive look. I asked another woman who worked there, if I can get a library card. Though she was nice, she told me to talk to the said old lady. I talked to someone else- a black man in his 30s- if I can get one and he said in a dismissive and impatient tone of voice that I must get on line to get one and wait my turn and eventually get back to that old lady that I didn't want to deal with. When I got a library card there years ago, I didn't have to wait. Getting annoyed and not knowing what else to do, I decided to leave. In fact, getting a library card wasn't my only objective there; I was also planning on asking for a seasonal job. But seeing how everyone acted towards the customers and having an attitude throughout, I was glad that I didn't apply for anything. I'm glad to see how things stand early on, rather than later on, and being able to avoid tons of issues developing with this particular staff.
