Primary Care
The Community of Central Brooklyn faces serious health care access issues. Interfaith is located in a primary medical care Health Professional Shortage Area as designated by the federal government. The shortage of primary care providers combined with the social problems that plague low income, high poverty communities have led to serious health status consequences for its residents. In Central Brooklyn, the death rate per 100,000 residents is higher by 30% for all causes compared to New York City as a whole.
Emergency Care
Annually, Interfaith provides a total of over 200, 000 outpatient clinic visits, over 50, 000 Emergency Department visits, and over 11, 000 discharges. Almost 15% of our outpatient services (over $10 million) are provided to uninsured individuals with no ability to pay for their care. Our Payer Mix is (33%) Medicare, (60%) Medicaid and Managed Medicaid, (2%) Commercial, (5%) Self-Pay.

Pediatrics The Department of Pediatrics provides comprehensive quality care to Children from New Born to 18 yrs. of age. The primary care Pediatricians provide Growth and Development assessments, immunizations as recommended by the AAP, AAFP, and Advisory Committee Immunizations, anticipatory guidance including Lead Poisoning in children and ROR Program. The primary care pediatricians also provide nutritional advice. The continuum care is provided from ER, inpatient and follow up care in Ambulatory area. While all primary care services are vital to the communities Interfaith Medical Center serves, its Sickle Cell program, Pediatric Cardiology and Neurology program are sub specialty services provided.

Internal Medicine
Internal Medicine Residency The Interfaith Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Training Program continues to attract superior candidates from all over the world. The median USMLE Step 2 CK score of our entering class of 28 is 231 and is clearly competitive with any other program. Our running three-year American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Board pass rate is 95%, among the highest in the nation. Our residents' marks on the National In-Training Exam are consistently above the national average and increase by PGY level. This test is taken by almost every Medical resident in the nation and is marked by PGY level so that residents and programs can judge how well they stack up against every other internal medicine training program. Every resident who starts our program and stays for three years becomes Board eligible and all get jobs easily. During their training, despite being extremely busy, many residents do clinical research and write abstracts that are published and/or presented as posters and papers at local and national meetings. Lastly and most importantly, all our residents report back to us after starting work that they have been very well prepared for the practice of medicine and that their training was superior to that of other physicians with whom they have worked.

Podiatric residents at Interfaith Medical Center will experience a high surgical case load with strong exposure in orthopedics and wound care. Residents are involved with a high number of rear foot surgery cases and have a very fair call schedule.
Wound Care
Currently the Wound Clinic is open two days per week. Emphasis is placed on conservative management as well surgical management of Diabetic Foot wounds; however, all types of wounds are encountered. A large variety of products, dressings, resources, and modes of treatment are available for wound care patients.
Ankle Surgery
Upon completion of the three years of training, residents, should exhibit the knowledge and psychomotor skill concerning foot and ankle surgery equal to an orthopedic surgeon fellowship trained in foot and ankle surgery.

General Podiatry
Experience is gained through time spent in clinical facilities. Wound Care Clinic, as well as Podiatry clinic, is predominantly managed by the residents with support by an attending staff. Time spent in a clinical atmosphere allows residents to work up the surgical patient, decide on the most appropriate procedure, and manage the patient post-operatively. All the major fundamentals of the field of Podiatry are encountered.

Podiatric Residency Program The Podiatric Residency Program at Interfaith Medical Center consists of PMSR and PMSR-R/RA approved program, which accepts one resident per program each year. The Interfaith Podiatric Residency Program is a full three year with the new PMSR conversion with two available positions. At Interfaith Medical Center, residents' practice alongside dedicated podiatric physicians. Our podiatric residency directors are greatly experienced in forefoot and rear foot surgery, wound care, reconstructive foot surgery, and traumatology.
