Peter Muscarella II, MD, graduated from the University of Rochester with a degree in microbiology. He went on to receive his medical degree from New York Medical College. Dr. Muscarella completed his residency training in general surgery at The Ohio State University, where he completed a two-year research fellowship in pancreatic cancer genetics.Prior to joining Montefiore as Director of Pancreatic Surgery, Dr. Muscarella was an associate professor of surgery with tenure at The Ohio State University. Dr. Muscarella actively participates in multidisciplinary tumor boards and gastrointestinal cancer clinics with other specialists who manage pancreatic diseases. He has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. He maintains a busy pancreatic surgery practice and is active in a number of national surgical organizations and committees.
