Founded in 1876, The Legal Aid Society is one of the oldest and largest providers of free legal services in the United States. It offers a range of civil, class action and juvenile rights litigation services to low-income families and individuals. The society provides assistance in tax compliance, predatory lending, immigration, health insurance, medical debt, and family law and civil issues. Its major areas of legal practice include civil, criminal and juvenile rights. In addition, the society offers internship programs for students.
