Teeth Cleaning
If the odor is due to periodontal (gum) disease, your general dentist can either treat the disease or refer you to a periodontist, a specialist in treating gum tissues. Periodontal (gum) disease can cause gum tissues to pull away from the teeth and form pockets. When these pockets are deep, only a professional periodontal cleaning can remove the bacteria and plaque that accumulate. Sometimes more extensive treatment is necessary. If you have extensive build-up of plaque, an invisible layer of bacteria, your dentist may recommend using a special antimicrobial mouth rinse.

Fillings
Dental bonding, also known as composite or tooth bonding, is an excellent way to fix cosmetic and structural imperfections in the teeth. Dental bonding can repair cracked, chipped, and discolored teeth as well as replace silver amalgam fillings. Cosmetic bonding can also repair misaligned teeth, providing a straighter, more uniform smile.

Dental Bonding
To begin the teeth bonding procedure, the dentist selects a composite resin (dental bonding material) that matches the natural shade of your teeth. The dentist then roughens the existing tooth so the resin can adhere properly. Next, the composite resin is carefully applied to the tooth, shaped, and smoothed to achieve the desired look. It is then quickly hardened via a high intensity light. Lastly, the bonded tooth is buffed and polished so it has the same appearance as the surrounding teeth.

Root Canal Treatment
A root canal procedure is considered one of the most effective methods of preserving a tooth that has been severely compromised by dental decay or injury. According to statistics more than 95% of root canals are successful. In fact, with good oral hygiene and regular dental care, a tooth that has undergone root canal therapy can last as long as other natural teeth. However, as with any health related procedure there will be a small percentage of cases that are not successful. Occasionally, a tooth that has received a root canal may either fail to heal, or pain from that tooth may continue to exist. There are even situations where pain and symptoms develop months or years after the root canal treatment. In these cases, Endodontic Retreatment may be needed.
Apicoectomy
An apicoectomy may be performed under local anesthesia. It is typically a straightforward procedure during which an incision is made in the gum tissue above the root of the involved tooth. This is to expose the inflamed or infected tissue surrounding the root tip of the tooth. Once uncovered, the damaged tissue in the area is removed along with a few millimeters of the toothâ€™s root tip. A biocompatible filling material is then placed in the end of the remaining portion of the root to seal it and prevent any possibility of reinfection. The gum tissue flap is put back into place and sutured to complete the procedure.

Periodontal Surgery
Deep Cleaning
If the gum recession is not severe and can be halted and grown back by simple alteration of the mouthâ€™s environment, then non-surgical options are proposed. This is generally the case for bacterial infections of the gum, particularly those in an early stage. In these cases, a professional deep cleaning of the periodontal pockets is recommended.

Dentures
The plastic partial denture fits on the gum and sometimes has wire clasps to hold it in place. The metal precision partial denture fits exactly with clasps and rests on existing teeth.
