Dr. Henry Achampong completed his undergraduate training at the Kentucky State University in Frankfort, KY. He graduated summa cum laude with a major in Biology and a minor in chemistry. He then went on to obtain a Masters degree in Pharmacology at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY. He graduated from University of Louisville School of Medicine in 2005. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology at UMDNJ, Newark, NJ in 2009. He completed his interventional pain fellowship at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Cincinnati, OH. He briefly spent time as Director of Pain Management at the Mount Nittany Pain Management Clinic, State College, PA. Next, he worked at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, DE as an Interventional Pain Physician and Anesthesiologist. He joined Sussex Pain Relief Center in Georgetown, DE, before becoming and employee at Fairwood Spine and Pain Center P.A. Dr. Achampong is an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiology, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, International Spine Intervention Society, North American Neuromodulation Society, and the American Pain Society. Dr. Achampong treats a variety of chronic and acute pain disorders. His focus includes cancer pain, complex regional pain syndrome, and disorders of the spine. He is an expert in both pharmacological and interventional treatment of pain disorders. He is well trained in all interventional pain modalities, including, epidural injections, facet injections, radiofrequency techniques, discography, spinal cord stimulators, intrathecal infusion pumps, vertebroplasty and mild procedure (minimally invasive lumbar decompression). He is a soccer enthusiast, enjoys running, hiking, ping pong, tennis and traveling.
