Insurance Buyer Beware!

This insurance agent, Rodda Yates and her employee Courtney are so rude and misleading! When I purchased home and auto policies back in July from Courtney, she was all personable and nice. Then when I decided to cancel those policies and switch to agent in the same city, Ms. Courtney was all hot and bothered and the tone her voice when she called to confirm I was cancelling was less than pleasant. It was then that I complained to her boss, Rodda, that I did not deserve her employees attitude and should not be made to feel guilty for changing agents as that was my choice. She said that Courtney was just "passionate" about her job and felt she was not out of line. In addition, I went through HELL for 2 months attempting to get my down payment refunded. Technically Ms. Yates was still my agent since no changes had been made to the listing agent on my current policy because she never informed me that the insurance carrier Safeco required a letter in writing when cancelling a policy. I did correspond with Ms. Yates by email to find out what was the hold up on the refund of my down payment, in which she replied, she'd look into it. She gave me an explanation in a reply email that said all I needed to do is provide proof of prior coverage and that should solve my issue. However, when I mailed her the proof and still did not receive a check in the mail after a few weeks, I began to call her office 2-3 times a week for THREE weeks, speaking and leaving messages with a Dottie and an Emily, who kept telling me she was busy and for me not to worry that she was not ignoring me, they would give her the message, etc...Well, after 3 weeks of that run around, I got my problem solved by Safeco directly only because when they heard of the current agent's deliberate ignoring of my calls, they said they would take care of it, but that was really the agent job and that what she gets the commission for. I let a few weeks go by and did not call Ms. Yates office again and thought I would take her by surprise and call to get an explanation as to why she never returned my calls. Ironically, she was the one who answered the phone and gave me the lamest excuses for her not calling and she was EXTREMELY rude to boot. She told me that out of respect for my new agent and the new agents request for her not to, she did not call me, yet we corresponded by email a few times even after I requested to cancel. She also said very rudely asked why was I calling her if the problem had been resolved, in which I said that it's the principal of the matter that she was still technically my agent and it was unprofessional that she deliberately ignore me, when she began helping to assist me in the very beginning to obtain my refund. Not to mention, after awhile into our conversation she admitted to not wanting to get involved any further and that was why I was not contacted. She also said she wanted our conversation to be "done with" and sarcastically kept saying "is there anything else I can help you with Ms. Mendoza"? As if that was not an obvious way to let me know she doesn't want to "bother" talking to me. PLease avoid this lady at all costs. She is rude and is only nice when she has your business. Come to think of it, I cannot understand how her business is even thriving with the way she treated me. Oh, by the way, after searching online, I discovered that she has been fined by the Texas Department of Insurance $2,500.00 for allegedly committed an act for which a license may be denied; Allowed non-licensed employees to conduct the business of insurance.
